Here are the fees from my Purchase Agreement in Texas.
Dealer Inventory Tax: $60
Dealer Documentary Fee: $50
License/Title: $94
State Inspection: $24 All cars get this.

There were no Mini Distribution Center fees.
That's probably part of the lovely $650 Transportation fee everyone pays.

Making sure you get a fair trade-in: $Priceless!

Comfort Access means NOT having to use the key to start the car. I love that.

I think Mini won't roll out the 2009 cars till 2009. Hey, someone has to be accurate on the model years.

Negotiating experience? What negotiating? I was given a printed price list for all the optional items, and you pay the total. No negotiating, which, frankly, I like. At least I know I'm paying the same price as everyone else. I did get the really nice rubber mats and and hour of tech time to install a cable so I can hook up my 2 meter amateur radio transceiver direct to the battery, so I'm happy.

Same here... Negotiating? Was just given an invoice for ordered options and sold at MSRP. They sell too fast for getting a discount. If you want one on the lot here in Orlando, you have to buy it quick. Larry at Downtown Mini treated us with utmost respect and is the best. He told us on the Saturday before we ordered our Mini, they sold 16 Minis in one day!

Anyway, for the savings that I will get in gas mileage, I'm not complaining on what I paid for the car. I liked the no hassle pricing. Made the buying experience so much more enjoyable.

Can't wait to motor!

I got $1200 below MSRP on a build-to-order Mini Cooper S 2008. Learn how to negotiate... It does work.

Bay Area here..

I had a real excellent experience with East Bay Mini. My sales person was Bryson or was it Brian, he sat at the right when you walked in the door.

There was this beautiful Pepper White with a good list of options at the lot. At the time he was not helping anyone, however, when we arrived there was atleast 4 people ahead of us. I spoke with him for 10 minutes and told him that we would like to pay for the Pepper White with Lounge Leather.

He said, "sure", it is usually $2k above MSRP, I asked for a discount and he said no. We said, fine, where do we pay...10 minutes later, he came back with the purchase order and a $500 discount on my car. I

It was a 25 minute sale for him. He appreciated that we didnt bust his ***** for a discount. And before we left, he threw in all season floor mats.

The whole purchase took only 45 minutes, including the finance department since I paid cash. I think what took the longest was the "new car wash".

I would recommend these guys, particularly the sales person.

This is my 3rd mini in less than two months. The first one I purchased from a supposed reputable dealer in Colorado (I live in NC) off ebay. 2nd mistake buying a car off ebay. Won't ever do that again.

Bought an '06 Convertible S from a private individual. Loved the car, wasn't practical with two girls in the back seat.

Traded Saturday for an '08 Coupe S, ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. The dealership was fantastic (Hendrick Mini in Charlotte, NC)

There was no negotiation on the sticker price.... however, I had to negotiate to get an add'l 2K on my trade-in (without tacking back on the top...lol), got my set of floormats and a set of upgraded Crown Point wheels thrown in.

And the best thing was cool tire pressure gauge they threw in....

Seriously, best car dealings I've ever had...

Mark

Negotiations???

With the reported 53% sales increase and gas hitting $4.00, I would not be suprised to see more and more dealer premiums being added back in.

It is always a good idea to negotiate. The market may demand a close to msrp price but you won't know until you investigate and negotiate. I would guess most people reading this particular thread are looking for a deal. Those deals are out there. A better deal can likely be found in bigger cities (given more dealerships). No one should get caught up with "mini-hype." It's still just a car and the sales process is still the same.

Now, after saying all that, the best deal I could find is similar to others, $500 off msrp. I am more than curious how the previous poster got >$1000 off.

good luck.

Just got my 2nd MINI last week. Two Houston dealers, both known as MSRP stores. Since it was the end of the month, I asked for a $500 discount and was turned down. As a compromise I was given mats and $200 credit for merchandise/accessories. Not sure what would have happened if I'd walked, but seemed acceptable to me. Overall it was a painless transaction, decent trade-in value, no brow beating in the finance office, car was ready in a couple of hours even on a very busy day at the shop. My salesman was only in his third week and did a good job of schmoozing, I'd suggest him and the dealership to a potential MINI buyer.

My MA was a great guy, told me everything was going for MSRP but gave some ground fairly quickly to get the deal done. I got $250 off MSRP plus free floor mats....he was also willing to give me $2000 more for my gas guzzin' Nissan Titan Crew Cab (13mpg city/14.5mpg hwy) trade in than any of the other 3 dealers I was talking to and that's what really got it done. As it turns out, I sold it myself on craigslist for $4000 more than that, so now I don't have to come out of pocket for my down payment at all and my monthly payment will be $98 less per month! yee haa!!! the only dagger is that now I don't have a car and my MCS just got released to distribution today so I'm probably still 3 weeks away from delivery!

No room to negotiate. I didn't pay over MSRP like a lot of people. I paid MSRP and they through in some mats. Easy process, no pressure at all. Will be here in 3 weeks, I can't wait!!!

Yeah I think I blew it when on the test drive my mom asked if I was sure this was the car I wanted and didn't I want to look around and I said NO! Doh, I think I blew any change of negotiating but I did not pay over MSRP. I take delivery when I get back from vacation around the 21st. My MA gave me my final price and so far it's about $100 over what I figured it to be, maybe that's the dealer prep fee or something.

:D

Don't deal with the salesroom vultures, just go through the internet/fleet sales rep...best way to get deals.

I order mine on 7-7-08 from Princeton BMW in NJ and feel like I was not pressured and went in 2 days and was given keys and told to take rides
and see how I liked it and my salesman Dan was not pushy and was really
first time buying new car that I felt enjoyment in buying..
He threw in few items for extras and it was nice feeling..
Now the wait for PW S to arrive at port...Joe in NJ

Negotiated $300-$500 off MSRP with numerous local and semi-local dealers. Ended up going with $300 off plus floor mats due to proximity.

The cars are negotiable regardless of the insane demand.

I don't shop at Costco too often and always forget the have a preferred dealer program. After I signed my sales order, I found out my dealer is parto fthe Costco Preferred Dealer Program. Instead of playing with the MSRP, I am going to see if they will throw in a wind screen on the deal.

Knauz Mini, Lake Bluff, IL. Ordered my S a couple of weeks ago, and my MA knocked a couple hundred off MSRP, and threw in a bunch of freebies (mats, magnetic stone guards, map light, sport stripes (including installation - that's a good $300 right there, from what I'm told)). Not too shabby! I think he appreciated that I was being easy-going about it all.

jeez cheapskates everywhere! Live and learn: when a car depreciates on an avg of less than 8%/year, which is stellar and better than any other car out there--and has been like this for 5 years running--paying msrp is not that huge of a deal.

Buying a MINI is NOT like buying all this other mechanical crap that depreciates 30-40% the second it leaves the dealer lot.

Im not saying it's futile to negotiate, just dont get yr hopes up too high or U will be disappointed. Old car-buying habits are hard to shake off, eh?

The two Houston dealers don't have Fleet sales...that's for Chevy dealers... . The internet rep is whichever salesman answers your email to the dealer. ....The whole discussion of MINI discounts is getting so old, I'd like to see proof from those who claim their great deals. If you got your MINI under MSRP lately, let's see a copy of your sales order, shouldn't be too hard to show with your real name/address removed.
