R56 How was everyone's negotiating experience?
We went there two weeks ago. They demanded $5K over MSRP. No neigotiation. The MA said MAYBE he might be able to reduce the mark up by $1K MAYBE.
If we could get all you got we'd order from them. They're a lot closer than the dealer we're about to order from. Did you get a '07 Mini?
Who was your salesperson?

Mine was great. Tod them I want to custom order it. They said they are going to push mine in front of their own. Asked for MSRP, they said fine. Factory installed Piano black without me asking for it. They did not charge for it. Factory forgot to put the bonnet stripes on, they did at no charge. Ordered it a five weeks ago, picked it up today. They threw in the mats and nitrogen tire thing for free without me asking. Cannot ask for anything more. They were really great.
I just called them and made an appt. I was surprised I overlooked them. They said that LB Mini is their main competitor so they're ready to deal.
We'll go down this afternoon.

I had exactly the same experience with Art at MINI of The Woodlands that dbhouston had--ordered my MCS in December (no demos at that time); picked up a few days after the car shipped in February. Full tank of gas, free keychain, free carpet floor mats, MSRP and no ridiculous fees. I didn't even put down a cash deposit for the order! A great experience, and I would gladly buy another from them.
Just got back from Southbay. Not a great experience. Made an appt this afternoon for 4:45PM with the manager. Salesman told us all this VIP stuff. When we got there the manager was gone and the salespeople didn't seem like the cared if we bought or not. They weren't interested in any incentives beyond a keychain and mats. We didn't feel welcome. We'll go back to Mini LB and see if they'll give us the same deal and a better trade on our Jeep. If they do we'll buy there. If not, we'll buy from South Bay.
Thanks for the tips everyone. Mini of Universal City just didn't offer the same deal.

My dealer was actually really good. We went in a couple times because my Dad's BMW gets serviced in the BMW dealership attached right next to it, so we got to know the guy a little. WE got $600 off MSRP on an R56 Cooper S and we got rubber mats. Plus, the car didnt have a center armrest, so the dealer was going to install it. They usually charge $400, but he knocked it down to cost, which is $200, as I'm sure you all know. All in all, I think we got a badass deal
South Bay Mini
I just wanted to follow up. Thanks for the tip Richard. It was a rocky start as we posted but a great finish. It was between Long Beach and South Bay. In the end South Bay was incredibly more professional when it came down to the nitty gritty. They gave us a good trade-in price on our Jeep, sold the car at MSRP and went through hurdles to get us a good place in the cue.
We would highly recommend them to anyone in the area. We can't wait to pick the car up. See Amanda White when you go there. She has two Mini's and has been involved in Mini clubs since she was 16!

MSRP
From Shep Nelson, he ROCKS.
I got the Lightning Blue MCS stripes checkered mirror caps and sunroof.
I got the full package, plus the aero kit,18in black wheels, the break kit, driving lamps, etc.....
I have referred a friend of mine to the dealership and she bought a 06' about 2 months ago.
He told me because of it I'm getting mine at MSRP.
Either way, it came out to be way too expensive but I'm doing it anyway.
It's cheaper than my BMW 330i performance package. Although not a very good comparison. I do plan tricking up my hp.
Any way, GO SEE SHEP at ALEXANDER MINI, tell him TATS (pronounced TOTS) sent you so I can earn more brownie points
.A very nice guy he is.
Another Mini of the Woodlands customer here except I used Aka. Everything went great and he also threw in a tank of gas, key chain and rubber floor mats along with a handful of other fun stuff (mini trading cards, Mini mints ect).
Oh yeah, it was at MSRP with no extra charges.

In San Antonio, Texas, I was quoted an extra $2,500 to order. Other TX dealers I contacted sell at MSRP....mine's not in yet, so I'm not sure if they'll throw in the mats or anything.
For those of you that ordered your car, did you work your floor mat and other deals at the time of order or at the time of delivery?
I ask because my, uh, friend didn't really try to work anything outside of price when he ordered his first new car and now he's asking for advice.

We just sauntered in and asked a few questions about this and that on MINIs. Test drove an MC and then an MCS. hit the sport button on the way back.....WHOA!
Handed the MA the configurator sheet and said "add the moon roof". He asked about the empty toggle slot a couple of times while he entered the data.
Just before he sent the data, he told us he had added floor mats and rear fogs, no charge. Next available slot was 5/20 and we had it. No earnest money or nuttin'. Sweet!

I wish your friend luck!
With my first MC (2003) I bought it off the lot from Tom Bush in Jacksonville, FL. It was sitting in the back, and had no extra stuff put on it. I made out for MSRP, and some how ended up a full set of floor mats ahead. I also got an OUTSTANDING trade-in on my Jetta (high retail, not trade-in).
My second MCSCa (2006) I bought from the lot from MINI of Peabody in Massachusetts. I paid MSRP, kept my floor mats from the '03, and got a couple hats. I did not get a full tank of gas
, but I got a very reasonable trade-in on my '03. Not bad considering I had actually brought it in to have a oil pressure light fixed, and while they were at it they discovered it needed all new brakes.
