R56 How was everyone's negotiating experience?
i got my 07' at MINI of mt. view, california. i asked for astro black because i didnt see it in the front. the dealer told me its on the roof and he will bring it down. however i just followed him up to the roof. and there it was. even the seat plastic was not removed yet. but anyway, when i sat down, the dealer said there was a $1500 mark up. i asked him to remove it and he said no, the finance dept wont let him. i then asked him to walk over to the fin. dept. to really ask. he came back and removed the $1500 mark up. then i asked for floor mats. recieved that as well after making him go to the fin. dept. again.
I wish ordering could have only been so luckey - First there was the hard sell for the '06 model, then the '07 MCS...And let's not forget the high APR rate they tried to sell me (or MiniSelect) It seemed like pulling teeth to convince them I really wanted an '07 MC finaced through our credit union - mellow yellow w/ black roof, xenon, rotator spokes and white turn signals & black Lounge Leather interior w/ cream color, wood trim and chrome trim rings...It finally arrived and is just what I wanted (well worth the battle)
I agree with you, GLJONES. Downtown MINI is great. They could impose a markup and most of us would still pay it. The Orlando crew is straight up with their numbers. No haggle has its merits.
Hmmm...free shirts? Hey Mike!

haha well its good to hear a good chunk of you had a decent experience. As long as its not marked up, i really dont see a problem...and it would be nice if they throw in mats or something....or if mike can throw in some free shirts
We just purchased a 07 MC at Bill Jacobs Mini and had a great experience. The price was MSRP and we received free mats in our choice of carpet or rubber. The car we purchased was on the their lot and we spent the good part of the afternoon looking through their inventory to find the right one.
Great buying experience with Mini of the Woodlands. Art is the best MA. Handled it all via email. Never met or spoke with him until I signed the papers. (I ordered in January before they were available for test drives.) He emailed me the forms to fill out and I emailed him my specs. List price, of course. But he included the floor mats, which are a standard gimme. He also added in tinted windows and sunroof as part of the negotiations at my suggestion. No markups and very low document fee. $50, I think. They were all great to deal with.
I bought my 2006 Cooper S about a month ago from Flow Mini in Winston Salem, NC last month. They were, and still are offering $750 off of the "S" model or $1000 in accessories. I opted for the money off of the sticker price and still drove away with a free set of floor mats. There are only two dealers in the state of NC, so I was expecting to pay at least full sticker price.
They are cutting some good deals on the left over higher end 06 models (JCW models) as of this time.

. When I went to Universal City I dealt with Jay in the internet Sales Department, and it was a fairly new thing to be offering the cars for MSRP. Mind you, the MSRP deal I got was on an 06, not an 07. It's very possible they may have started a new markup policy now that the 07's are out. *Shrug*.
Give Jay a call... he was easy to work with. If they're willing to work with you, you'll know pretty quick. Longbeach generally has a 5-6 month lead out time for a production slot (Cause they've always been "The No Markup Dealer"). Keep that in mind when ordering, and happy motoring

2007 Cooper S Pepper White
My MCS is two weeks old, Leather lounge black interior, Pepper White, etc etc Got it at Mini of Concord for MSRP, including mats. Yes, got ripped on the IPOD interface, but if you've had steering wheel control of your IPOD before, you just can't go back to the past - I put it in the deal so Oh Well!
I made a couple of trips to the dealer and even had them email me the options, etc. and prices - Definitely MSRP all the way. The finance guy mentioned the "extras" but no pressure at all to buy (compared to past buying experiences)
Picked up the other options we wanted like armrest, chrome scoop, roof rack, etc on the internet and saved a bomb. And added SAT radio and GPS Nav.
I do love my ENYMINI!!!

We got our 06 convertable last month from East bay mini in pleaston, ca. Got $1200 off for being last year model. Then I found out it was a demo, but it only had 12 miles on it. Got another $500 off for that plus demo cars get 5000 miles extended on their warrenty. Of course this was off the lot and did not have everything i wanted and some things I didnt (rear fog light, now thats a waste of a hundred bucks). All in all I'm thrilled with our deal, especialy after hearing this is not typical.
When I asked our MA to see what the dealer paid for the car he told me that it doesnt work that way. If we didnt buy it there were plenty of peoples waiting for one. So I dont think that there is any negotiating unless you want a leftover 06.
Mini of San Francisco has every R56 marked up $2500 and when I showed up, proverbial cash in hand, saying I am ready to buy if they can give me a car for MSRP they just chuckled and said that they had better things to do.
Went to East Bay Mini in Pleasanton, which has a no-haggle MSRP policy, ordered from factory, and will be paying sticker (most likely with no freebies thrown in).

Thank you.
Mine was great. Tod them I want to custom order it. They said they are going to push mine in front of their own. Asked for MSRP, they said fine. Factory installed Piano black without me asking for it. They did not charge for it. Factory forgot to put the bonnet stripes on, they did at no charge. Ordered it a five weeks ago, picked it up today. They threw in the mats and nitrogen tire thing for free without me asking. Cannot ask for anything more. They were really great.
No negotiations,no dealer prep. No hidden fees. Built the car at the dealer on their computer. Exactly the same price as the one I built at home. I was told mats not included but rubber mats were in car at pick up. No extra charge. Also got key chain and offer for free subscribtion to MC2 magazine which I declined as I already subscribe. All in all a hassle free experiance.
