Mini o the Woodlands. Aka is our MA.

He came highly recommended here, I will add my vote of confidence to that, so far!

I think they're all good at MINI of The Woodlands. I miss Art, though...

No haggling, we were told

They were pretty up front with us about no bargaining because Mini's do tend to hold their value really well.

I did get my floor mats at a lower price but no, no huge discount or freebies or whatevs.

So it highly depends on the MA and/or dealership. I would suggest you do it prior to placing the order, but if "your friend" already placed the order, I would probably wait till delivery and act surprised if they're not in the car and then you can negotiate for them. Don't think it will be a problem. Try to find out whether other people buying from the same dealer got theirs at no cost.

I wish your friend luck!
Excllent, thanks for the advice. I'll check the MINICCI.org site and see how people have made out at this dealer.

I didn't negotiate at all. MA told me how it is done and I accepted it. They add $165 to the MSRP and include the floor mats.

Funny how it is all so regional, especially bad in California, I guess. My MA said free floor mats WHEN I was actually checking it off on my order list! And we got a very nice MINI key fob (funny, 'cause I sell them on Ebay!) and MINI pen. All as if it were a normal thing to do. No high document fees, or any other BS.

I thought getting a MINI was a fair enough trade for our check!

I haven't negotiate yet. They just said MSRP..Hopefully they'll throw in free mats.

Those who did negotiate, did you do it before or after receiving the order? I was planning to negotiate when I take delivery.

I had a good experiance at Prestige Mini in Mahwah NJ. I walked in, we spec out the car and left a deposit. I paid what the website said. I did have to negotiate for the lease price though. At first they wanted to charge me $430 a month! (Cooper S MSRP $24,650) I shopped around at 3 other dealers and got a price of 350 a month from Manahtan Mini whihc Prestige matched.

Full MSRP, no negotiating...free mats, which should be included with any new car anyway.

Looks like a lot of you are getting the mats for free.. This will be the first car to pay full MSRP+some, btw. I never pay MSRP. I always start from invoice and up.

IIRC Bob Smith MINI/BMW in Calabasas is STILL charging a $3k markup on the 06 MINI's. I have no idea what they're doing on the 07's. At one point they were charging $5k, and PEOPLE BOUGHT THEM!

When I bought my 06 in October I got it for MSRP + Mats, and it was considered a kick *** deal .
From Bob Smith in Calabasas, CA I was able to have that $3k reduced to $2k and have a roof rack, travel box and mats thrown in for free. Being an engineer, I walked in with a spreadsheet explaining how much money they were making off me anyways on top of invoice and said to them, quite literally, I'm not paying you $2000 and not getting anything out of it. They were extremely reasonable from that point forward.

I'm excited to pick up my MCS in less than 2 weeks!

Alright, question for the negotiating pros out there. My MA called Tuesday to say my car was going to be there Tuesday or Wednesday (agreed with the OL, though ASK-MINI says my car has returned to Southampton). Today he called to let me know that not only was the car not there but he didn't know when it would be...so, since I'm losing a weekend of motoring that I was counting on, do you guys think I should be able to swing some freebies out of this? Thanks!

I would certainly try--worst case is they say no. Did ASK-MINI say WHY the car was returned to Southhampton? That sounds strange.

I think ASK-MINI is just a bit confused...it's just giving me the same "vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel" message I got before it got to the VDC (OL still says it's at the VDC).

When I was in there last week, they claimed to have 150 R56 in stock. Stickers on the cars had +$1500 "market value adjustment". So it's no wonder they aren't anxious to order. When I asked a couple of questions about ordering, they were VERY sure they already had what I want, and don't need to order. Wasn't really comfortable there.

And I explained I'd just gone 100mi to drop in, and they weren't busy.

Guess I'll try Moritz or Woodlands-they aren't that much further away.

Any success in the Bay Area for under MSRP or special leases? Any luck with free/reduced accessories?

EDIT: I ask, as I was surprised to find that if I put my order in today that it would start being built almost immediately. Translation: Not enough demand to create a wait of any kind, which, to me, means that I might be able to drop below sticker a bit.

I test drove an 07 MCS with Sport/Premium and HIFI which was priced at 26,100 (close to that) with a 3k mark-up (29,100 final msrp) at Bob Smith, the sales person said that at the end of the month they're more likely to knock off mark-up and depending on the month lower the actual msrp a bit too. Sucks that it's so hard to get a good deal on these cars but I still might buy it. So I'll wait till the end of next month and make my move...oh and to those who doubt the negotiating power of the end of the month push let me tell you this, I not only got my current CPO'd A4 for about 6 grand off, my dad got his CPO'd low mileage fully loaded Audi A8L 15grand lower than KBB value/msrp on the last day and literally last hour of last month (by the time we were leaving with our new car it was 12am in the morning!). So hold out if you can!

The salesman said they were going to change the price at the end of the month, and didn't give the same deal to the warm body they had in front of them at the dealership?

Ridiculous!

I checked the 2 dealerships in Atlanta. One was MSRP plus a $550 prep fee and $450 document fee. The other was MSRP plus doc fee. Neither interested in freebies. Perhaps floormats if taking a car from dealer stock, but not when ordering. Given that 90%+ of cars are sold below MSRP, this is a tough concept to swallow.

And if you get tired of the waiting / game playing, call Victoria at Mini of Universal City....probably an hour away from Bob Smith. I got an extremely fair deal, no hassles, and out within an hour on my 07 MCS. They have a number of new MC/MCS that just arrived on Friday / Saturday.

I doubt you'll do better in So Cal.

Jeff

I saved $500 ordering my mini in Portland instead of Tacoma, Wa. I saved on the dealer markup ($225 less), free floor mats and saved on a mark up on cruise control that I was told was a mini mark up (ordered a la cart instead of packages). I also will be getting it in late July, or August, instead of October. A short train ride, and they wiil meet me at the station!

Are there still markup on the 07 MCS? I went to a dealership last week and there is no markup on any of their in stock 07 or an ordered one. The guy said they don't charge any extra fee either and will throw in free mats.

Depends on the dealer. I know of one that still does.
