Best luggage set (or boot stacking solution)

This might seem a trivial question but - for the small boot space that MINI offers - there should be a good luggage set that offers best stacking/usage of that small space. Or some duffels.

So - can someone recommend a good luggage solution for our beloved car? Ideally - something that fits the best the space, is light, has minimal dead space and can be loaded/unloaded easily without damaging the rear bumper or scratch the interior trimming.

(Yes - if someone has experience with the Union Jack boot box, that would be OK too, albeit it seems unreasonably expensive for 200$).

Duffel bags work well in my experience, as you can pack them efficiently and compress them as needed. Fast and light backpacks such as Gregory backpacks may also be an option.

Duffel bag w/wheels

We found that a medium duffle bag with wheels makes a good 'base' and then we stack a rectanglar gym type bag on top, an LL Bean bath room 'accessories' square bag on top and then we set a smaller rectangular gym type bag on it's end along side the duffle bag. This makes a stable configuration that doesn't have room to move around much. The duffle bags with wheels have rigid bottoms with handles that pull up like airport luggage.

Our bags are either black or black and gray so they look good too!

With careful packing we had enough for three people for 6 days.

At one time MINI offered luggage sets by Samsonite made especially to fit the MINI. I think they have been discontinued, but sometimes they can be found on here or in eBay.

My wife and I have two smaller airline roller bags that fit perfect sitting upright, side-by-side, facing foreward or back in the boot. Kind of a common size bag. No name company. You should be able to find somthing out there.

Forget the boot box

I considered the boot box for my MINI. MA took one out of the box to see how it fit. . .It connects to the floor of the boot with a couple of velcro patches. Basically, it's a $260 tupperware(not even) container. Really unimpressive plastic construction, and IMO not even worth $50. Sure, it levels out the loading surface with the rear seats down, but so do a couple of boxes from Costco. I expected more/better from MINI.

This past week I was able to place a 25" rolling "suiter" type case laying on it's side behind the seats. I had some tools and other items taking up the space outside of the nets on either side. The rear seats were down at the time as we had many other items to carry but I think it would fit with them up. I removed the rear parcel shelf and left it at home.

Pictures of the luggage loaded in the car would be helpful, especially of the airline roller bags or equivelent.

I have the Samsonite luggage set, and it does in fact fit nicely in the MINI's trunk. That said, dufflebags work well too because they smush around and fill all the trunk's nooks and crannies.

I am thinking of getting the roof rack addon (I have the rails already) to put large suitcases on the roof. So far, I haven't done much long distance driving, but if that ever changes... Plus with the roof carrier, one could carry luggage for three or four people easily... or, a complete set of autocross tires!
