How to pick the right MINI

For those of you who are having a hard time trying to figure out whether to get a MC or an MCS let me relay my experience.

1. Spend several weeks researching the car, drive both types and visit at least 2 dealers.

2. Think about what makes the most sense.

3. Go back to the dealer and drive both again, driving the salesman out of his mind with your indecision.

4. Drive both of them yet again, by now the salesman will just give you the keys and let you drive alone becuase you have made him insane.

5. Finally decide that the MC is the way to go becuase of the lower price better gas milage yadda yadda...after all its fast enough and that nice AT makes it so easy.

6. Drag the poor wreck of a car salesman all over the lot until you find the right MC.

7. Shake hands with the now frazzeled salesmand and go home.

8. Go home and go to sleep

9. Wake up go down to the dealer to sign the deal

10. Buy the MCS 6 speed

11. Tear out of the parking lot.

does it make you laugh like a kid again?

--You know I never drove an MC. It seems like MC drivers drive faster actually. I only test drove the MCS and it made laugh so hard I that I only had eyes for the MCS afterwards. But yes I highly recommend driving both models.

The new MCS gets soooo much better gas mileage than our supercharged models I wouldn't discount it purely due to the fuel efficiency of the MC.

One thing though. If it makes you happy to sit in and drive it then its the one. No matter what people tell you. When it fits you, you'll know it. Last weekend we went to our annual big auto show and I sat in a lot of luxury cars and a lot of sports cars. I even sat in the newest MINI's. But as much as I love the Corvette and how the M3 hugs me I know that I bought the right car because every time I sit in my MINI I'm happy.

rbeck,

Aloha and welcome to NAM.

Good scenario. Can't really go wrong with either MC or MCS R56.

Do MC drivers really drive faster? Probably so. I figure the MC is just so much fun behind the wheel.

MCS drivers drive slower to pump up their mpg and because they "know" they can drive faster at any time but choose not to. Hah!

and why would he possibly do this ? - the R53 is yesterdays news, it is not on the market anymore as a new car, R56 is a better car and his whole point was about going for the fastest car ...

There is always someone who has to start with the R53/R56 crap. If you have an R53 and love it, great! Now, let the people who have or want an R56 alone and let them enjoy theirs, too. Jeeeezzz. Like children. "Mine is better than yours. Na Na Na Na Na".

I think it was just a sarcastic or ironic end to the decision dilemma.
Mostly meant to be humorous. Not really a rational thing.

Not sure about the buyer going for the "fastest" car but rather the car that suits the buyer best- for budget and for peformance whether good mpg or good power for their needs.

In any case all this just demonstrates the loads of decisions MINI owners must tackle when confronted with what to buy.

Be happy you have choices and are not buying a low option mass market econobox. Make your MINI you "own" and enjoy.

now Beeeeehave!

--Yes I agree. Let's stop these shananigans now. It was just a joke but whether you've got a R53 or R56 we're both a cut above the normal automotive experience (well in our eyes anyway). Let's just enjoy our MINI's!!! They're both excellent vehicles and bring loads of smiles wherever we go.

I mean I've never driven a vehicle before that makes people smile when they see it. I've seen actual motorcycle police smile when they're following me and speed up to check my ride out my ride from back to front. Instead of tickets I get thumbs up nowadays. Even if I am speeding a little.

I would never say that one is better than the other when it comes to MINIs. Each one has its own strengths and uniqueness. I mean I love my supercharged pentagon engine, but I wish it would get the gas mileage of the turbo charged Peugot engine, or of any of the MCs.

What did it say in our MINI bible? Love thy neighboring MINI, but leave his wife alone... or something like that. Life is serious enough let's enjoy it with those that show brotherly and sisterly love and ignore people who can't accept and enjoy MINIs of all colors and races.

Well, if you want the fastest car, you can buy a 350z, go over to their forum, and start voting for it against the MINI.

Seriously, what car one buys is completely up to the individual doing the buying. I ordered my car the way I did because that's what I wanted. To each, their own.
