Yes, it is However, if you wanted a black one, I think Lyle can wrap those with no problem.
Lol, I would make sure to ask him about that one. The scoop would be a real bear to wrap. He can do the gas cap now, which is seriously impressive, but that scoop would be extremely difficult.

LOL...yeah, that is a lot of curves so check with Lyle on that one first. I was just talking with Lyle and he sent me some photos of a gas cap that he wrapped in black and let me just say, it looks AWESOME!!!! Anyone looking to change their chrome one definitely needs to check it out!!

That does look nice. I may have to rethink trying to fit a stock MC cap on.
They can be wrapped in a gloss black too that matches the sheen of the paint perfectly
I dunno how it would look against Astro Black though. He can do some body colors too, but I don't remember seeing AB on the list.
Oddly enough, when I bought my car, I asked about replacing the S gas cap with an MC plain one. I stopped by there today to get some prices, and the parts guy says are you Jas. Cooper from Coopersburg. They had ordered the filler assembly and had a door painted Astro Black. He said he'd give it to me for $51 for the assembly and throw in the paint job for free. I'm not sure I can pass that up, if only 'cause the parts guy did me a solid by getting it, and he's kind of stuck with it if I don't buy it. The MC plain black side markers are $38 for a pair and $111 for an MC grille (less 15% if I join PhillyMINI).
So the only question is, will the gas cap and assy be an easy swap, or do I have to pay dealer rates to have them do it.? I know the side makers slip right off, and there's a thread here on NAM for doing the grille.
Anybody want to spice up their MC with a chrome S gas cap? Bear in mind that the surround under the cap is Astro Black.
The 'sleeper' is coming together. The only giveaway will be the scoop on the bonnet (and I guess the lower bumper, but most people will just think that's what an 07 looks like).

Read a writeup about switching caps some where, might have been here. You have to access it from the back to remove the old one.
Edit, found it. Hit the link on the left for current mods. This guy did the opposite, went from the non-S to an S chrome cap.
Thanks for finding that. It's an 03, but the procedure is probably the same. Looks like a lot of work for a crummy gas gap. Maybe I'll see if I can sell mine first, then it would be worth making the swap.
Yes they are R105 double-spoke .I love the look of the wheels but they are a bit on the heavy side
Yea, I was pretty much set on them but that's my main reservation. Also how's the ride with runflats? I've heard 18's on the MINI can be rough enough with non-runflats so that's my one other worry. Although I do appreciate the peace of mind RF's provide. As of now I'm torn between those or black with a chome lip (PRIVAT Netz for example). Oh well, I have the entire Winter to ponder it, so no major rush.

If you want peace of mind of RF and the RF on 18" can be rough, how about compromising and getting 17" with RF? I have seen the 205/45/17 and the profile of the tire is quite low, it looks like the 225/40/18 on other BMW's I've seen.

The ride with the 18's with runflats is much rougher then the 17's i had before,i think when its time to get new tires i'll go with the non run flats

I figured that. Any idea if they're available without tires? I've only seen them in combination with the runflats. If not I'll be going for the NETZ's for sure. The idea of a chrome lip is really starting to appeal to me and they're incredibly lightweight (17lbs).
