Just realized that when the defroster is on it also defrosts your windows too with extra vents

Ok, so it doesn't work on my 2010/11 CPRS. MAybe it's a Comfort access feature only, which I don't have. Oh well.

Did you know that when your MINI's off, if you hold down the signal stalk it will light only that side? I think it's most likely for safety when you're pulled to the side of the road on a two lane. Looks like your car's winking at you though.

I rotated the tires yesterday and discovered that raising the car by the front jack point gets both the front and rear tires off the ground. Makes sense given the weight distribution, and makes it a bit quicker to swap the wheels.

I also found that all of the wheel lug nuts weren't torqued anywhere close to the spec of 103 ft-lb. Most were about 70, and a few were less. All untouched since I picked the car up from the dealer.

Something I did not know... I figured 70 lb-ft (Miata-ish), rather than a Tacoma-ish 100+...

Yup this works out perfectly since MINI only recommends rotating tires front to back and not across. Makes tire rotating a 15 min job.

Lol - for some reason I was mentally picturing a center front jack point lifting it so high that the rear bumper was your back support and all four wheels off the ground.

Still working myself through all 165 pages (on iPhone) but started up my Pandora app on my phone yesterday and LOVED that Bridie (my 2012 R56 MINI) pulled up an icon on the dashboard and let me control all my music, including likes and bookmarks, using her interface. SO COOL!

You know that little voice dial on your steering wheel that doesn't work? If you have an Iphone conneted to Mini Bluetooth you can hold down the main button on the phone for 3 sec. and voila voice dial over the Mini b/t. Amazing. Please excuse me if this has been posted before.

By the way has anyone gotten their 'talk' button on the steering wheel 'fixed'?

This may be common knowledge, but new to me today. It's raining in sunny SoCal today. Leaving the gym I put the wipers on intermittent. After I was driving a while it started to rain harder, so I clicked the wiper arm up to start the slow speed, but when I stopped at the next light, the wipers went back to intermittent while sitting there. Once I started driving again, they went back to the slow speed setting. Smart car!

I don't remember this happening when I go from off the slow speed without using intermittent first. It doesn't rain here that often, but I like this feature I just found after owning Black Ice for over a year now.

QUESTION:
Is there a way to set the timeout length for the seatbelt buzzer to a shortter time period, similar to the number of blinks on the lane change blinker? The dog is getting bigger and he is starting to trigger the seatbelt buzzer. The timeout is too long for me and very annoying. Turning it off completely would be better than the long timeout it has now. Thx.

Yes, this is an old Bimmer trick. All of mine have had it (except our '69). I don't know when it started, but my '94 325i had it. It's not dependent on the auto-wiper feather, either.

As for the dog, why don't you just buckle the seat belt behind him? Also, you can actually buy the latch by itelf to plug into the seat belt lock, but I like free better.

Put it on intermittant while driving and then come to a stop and see what happens. :D

As for your dog, get yourself one of these.

What will they think of next? May just have to get one of those if the chime can't be turned off or its' duration shorttened.

To be honest there are times when I don't want to wear MY seatbelt too. Yeah, I know, airbag and safety, bla-bla-bla..., but comfort is an issue too. My old classic only has lap belts in front and no seatbelts in the rear (not illegal because it came that way from the factory in 1968). I really like the fredom. Needless to say, I wear them most of the time, but not because of the nasty reminder chime or stupid law to protect myself form myself.

Intermittent when stopped still goes on intermettent, I thought (?). Will try it next time I am out.

I think this is just for the Euro spec RHD cars. Damn we never get all the cool goodies over here in the states.

When the TPWS (tire pressure warning system) goes off it tells which tire is low with a little arrow. It's gone off before but I never noticed it actually telling me which tire was low so I would check all the tires...
