R56 Things you didn't know about your R56 MINI
And not only does it not do it until the engine is warm, I'm pretty sure it doesn't do it at all for the first thousand miles or so - mine didn't, anyway.
Mine did from Day 1 and it had less than 10 miles on it upon delivery.
You can have the dealer turn off the chime with a "retrofit" program on ISTA/P. My dealer SA denied it exists, but it is available. Also you have NCS expert you can do it at home (go to the electrical modification section for more info).
No way to adjust the timeout. However, the chime is separate for driver and passenger.

1) Turn OFF the seatbelt buzzers.
2) Turn ON the unlock doors with key removal.
3) Turn ON window operation for a period after key is removed.
4) Turn ON the red tach heartbeat light when car is locked.
5) Turn OFF speed overestimation.
Hope they will do it!
That is a 12v DC outlet, same as the cigarette lighter outlet up front on the center console.
My compressor is hardwired to the battery with 10 ga wire, but then again, it fills my 4 gal tank to 150 psi
I use the 12v back there to keep my streamlight charged.

Same thing here, have one charger in my room and the other in my car. Works great since I have a long drive to work.
I don't think it reaches to the front wheels. I've always used the interior 12V outlet and there must (surely?!) have been a reason I did that?
I'm going to ask my dealer to do the following changes at my next service:
1) Turn OFF the seatbelt buzzers.
2) Turn ON the unlock doors with key removal.
3) Turn ON window operation for a period after key is removed.
4) Turn ON the red tach heartbeat light when car is locked.
5) Turn OFF speed overestimation.

I didn't know the water pump would start to leak around 50k miles. Found that out yesterday when I discovered a slow leak on the passenger side. Looks like I get to try out my aftermarket extended warranty already :(
Time to DIY with a <$30 wire and some time spent in the Electric forum here!
Curses...a flat RF tire this morning on Nigel. Went flat overnight. Sigh.
Hmmm...my low profile jack isn't low-profile enough to get under the front jack point with the flat front tire. No sweat, though, right? From other posts, and prior tire rotations, I know our cars are stiff and short enough that I can use the back jack point to lift the whole side. I did so, enough to get the front wheel removed (to take it to the tire store and see what's up [non-RFT]).
What I didn't know: that jacked thusly, it creates pretty much a Brit see-saw catty-cornered between the jack and the front tire on the other side.
After I pulled the right front wheel, I was getting ready to take it out to the van and saw my MINI slowly settle towards the right front...the brake disc almost touching. I'd have been more alarmed, but I could raise it with the palm of my hand under the fender lip. Geez, almost balanced! I had my wife hold it up with the palm of *her* hand while I slipped on a winter tire/wheel (for now, in case I need to move it today).
And yes: having the car move *at all* while on a jack always gets my attention!

Window went to 1/2 way automatically?
Hey Folks,
Weird thing happened last week. I was driving home and was playing with the window toggles (while driving), and during some weird/odd combo of something (can't remember what the hell I was doing), the driver side side "automatically" positioned itself in a 1/2 way position.
I've tried several times (double taps on the toggle, up and down quickly, etc) to replicate the effect to no avail. Any clues?
