Someone want to remind me how to reset the monitor?

Its one of the options you can get to through the button on the end of the indicator stalk.

Taken from the 2007 owners manual pages 55-56:

1.Start the engine, but do not start driving.

2.Briefly press the button in the turn indicator

3.Press and hold the button until the display changes.

4.Briefly press the button repeatedly until the corresponding symbol and "RESET" are displayed.
5.Press and hold the button until the display changes.

6.Start driving.Initialization is completed while the car is on the move, without any feedback.

Yep. That's it. Took about a mile of driving for the monitor to reset. I wonder if it will freak out when the temperature goes up 30 degrees this weekend? (Oklahoma weather - never a dull moment)

FTM vs. TPM

Tire Pressure Monitor or TPM would indicate that he has a late 2007 or a '08-'09 version.

My Owners Manual (MINI / MINI CLUBMAN US English XI/07) that came with my 2008 Cooper has instructions for Flat Tire Monitor or FTM starting on page 59 with "Initalizing the System" on page 60. Same book is used in Canada, do Canadian MINI's come with FTM?

The TPM instructions start on page 61 and "Resetting the System" is similar, but look for:
ACTIVE
RESET

Select RESET and hold until ACTIVE changes to RESETTING.

The OP did the first step correctly in checking pressures,
a reset without confirming pressures could cause TPM to accept a low tire as the "Target Value" and also be aware that Resetting is needed following pressure (Gauge) check in any case.
__________________________________________________ _____________________________

JCR1960 had mentioned in another thread that he had rubber valve stems rather than the metal valve stems usually seen with TPM,
could some '08 US MINI's have been equipped with FTM? It seems to be a less problematic system than TPM..

Yeah, on our 4 and 5 lane Houston freeways (fast but crowded), about 5-10% of the time I find someone entering the lane next to me from 2 or even 3 lanes over. That's a pretty high percentage for the consequences. And little cars--even red ones--are often ignored by the Stupid Useless Vehicles and pick-em-ups.

I find the mirrors are plenty big enough, if adjusted correctly and backed up with a glance.

I set my mirrors like that today. I did like how it widened the overall view and took away the blind spots. Time will tell though if I keep it because it throws me off now when I see someone in the side mirror. I keep thinking they are in the lane next to me but instead they are 2 over (this was more an issue at night). Does take some getting used to in city driving. Seems to make reverse parking a little more difficult when trying to use the side mirrors for depth perception. The angle kills its accuracy. I will give it some time and see what i prefer.

I use MultiVex mirrors, and like them a lot. They widen the view.

I'm currently driving an 04 MC, but I have an 09 MCS on order. Very impatiently waiting. Since I can't imagine that the placement of the sunroof has changed much, I thought I should mention the thing that most surprised me. After a Louisiana rain (30 minutes of driving rain, then more sunshine), if you drive through a puddle with the sunroof open, the water does an amazing thing. It forms an upward curtain from 3 sides that seems to completely miss the sides of the car, curves inward and dumps right through the sunroof into your lap. I had to pull over the first time it happened to me, I was shrieking with laughter!

That's funny! Although, I have to ask....why were you driving in the rain with your sunroof open in the first place....? (Just kidding.) I don't think I've had that happen to me in either the '04 nor the '07....

It had stopped raining at that point. I don't believe in being "Cooped" up. And I never learn. It's happened more than once.

Hey thanks for that link. I might go that route now but wanted to know if it affects the movement of the sideview mirror at all from left to right or up and down. I know that it is the exact same size but because the mirror would now be "thicker" is it affected?

Also do you have heated sideviews? Apparently it wants a little silicone applied to keep the heat in to defrost the mirrors.

How close of a match to actual size are they? Can you take a picture? Do they stick past the housing so you can see that it's aftermarket from the side of car? Sorry for all the questions but this is on a lotus and it looks horrible - http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/atta...005_0521ag.jpg

For anyone else considering them - this is a good shot to show - look at the grid pattern on the garage door - http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/atta...005_0521ae.jpg

Thanks!

Well two months later, and I now know that the rear sunroof shade can slide out of the way like the front one. Had no clue since I never sit back there.

Yeah, I mentioned this a page or two back--at least you didn't take so long. I'd owned my car well over a year--also don't use the back seat, and my car had been shipped with it rolled up!

It's been a while since i read over all of these but I'm pretty sure it's not listed.

When you unlock your doors everyone know that the lights inside the car fade on and then fade back off after you close the door or relock it. Now for the "did not know part", the parking lights fade on and off as well.

Had an R56 next to a cabrio last night and noticed! It's these neat little touches that make me love my car more every day.

With the car off and parked if you flick your signal stalk down the driver's side parking light and tail light go on. Not blinking just steady light.

Interesting--does it go off so we can use it as a "nightlight"?

Sorry, but I'm too lazy and/or busy to try it myself.

No it does not but that is a setting that is configurable in your BC it is called "follow me home" or something like that. Probably in the manual.

If you flick it up, it should light the passenger side, as well.

It will work for either side, depends on which side of street you are parking on and no 'timed' extinguish,
but less than half the battery draw of regular 'Parking' Lights.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but on my sons 07 MCS if the wipers are on, the rear wiper comes on if you put it in reverse. I've probably put 8K miles on the car and never noticed that.

sort of, it's for when parking in narrow streets with very little light. like the dark narrow streets common in europe. many other european cars have had this feature for a long time. porsche is one that comes to mind.

Rear sun roof screen? Just another undiscovered neat MINI item.
