I thought the cargo net in the front passenger foot well was specifically for a folding umbrella. Works well, anyway.

Yes, that would be a good place for it, but I think I'd rather have an even smaller, flatter umbrella for that, mine is too round. I'm using that net for my cell phone charger and cell phone while it charges.

I wish the driver's side had a wee little cargo net like that. I suppose it would be 'dangerous', but I'm still searching for a good place to put my clunky 1980's era garage door opener. My MA laughed at me when he saw it. I tried velcroing it into the driver door well, but it rattled with the speaker. It won't work from the cubby under the stereo/climate center stack. I don't want to put it on the visor. Currently lives under the e-brake. So very tacky.

I Velcroed mine to the to the passenger side of the (oh what's it called, the thing that divides the driver and passenger side and holds the shift stick and parking brake?) near the shift stick. Have to be careful when moving the passenger seat all the way forward, but I don't have rear seats, so not done often.

Yeah, good idea. I seldom have passengers, so it'd be relatively out of the way and I wouldn't have to look at the blasted thing or dig around under the junk I tend to pile up on the, whatsit . . . "center console".
Thanks!

How about behind your rearview mirror, or on the winshield up there. Thats where a lot of folks mount their EZ Pass, too.

I discovered that the MINI is small enough to find the racing line within a single lane

That would certainly increase the range. My old car had my Dad's garage door opener stuck to the back of the rearview and I did not enjoy looking at it as I walked up to my car, and this one is easily 3x the size. But, the rearview mirror in my MINI is rather large, to say the least .

I have rain sensor wipers, so I can't interfere with that, I'm assuming that is at the very top of the windshield, right? I've even looked at buying one of those dainty 'universal remotes' but my garage door opener is soooo ancient, I don't think it will work.

Ok, I now have 2 alternative locations to try.

My SO says "just leave the *** garage open and hopefully someone will burn it down -- problem solved"

Most new remotes can be programmed for many doors. You could also look into the MINI mirror with the garage door opener built in, although you probably could get a whole new garage for the cost. If you got a new remote and it didn't work, you should be able to return it. Amazon has them for under $20. Says works with 80% of garage doors, and if it doesn't, Amazon even will pay the return shipping charges... Get your order to over $25 and shipping is free.

I got the MINI universal garage door remote in the mirror, but could only get it to work every other cycle with my late 1980's garage. The manual says something about using two people to set it for some doors. One person up on a ladder fiddling with the opener, another in the MINI. I didn't bother because the reach to the mirror is less convenient than using the big ugly remote.

My mcsa is in the body shop so the dealership gave me a loaner car. When start it up the seat belt sound is different than mine...The seat belt sound in the loaner car has a funky african drum sound to it..My car has a high pitch sound to it. Is there any way to change it?

My guess is the loaner car has the new 'gong' sound (showed up around production week 31 or so) while your car has the older 'dinkadank' chime. You can confirm this by going into audio settings, scrolling all the way to the right, and seeing if there's an adjustable setting labeled gong. There's no way that I've heard of to change the sounds. Although with the new gong you can adjust its volume.

So you know how you hold the unlock button on the remote and it opens up the windows / sunroof? Owner's manual says it doesn't work to close them. However, if you use the manual key and hold it in the lock position(clockwise I think) for a few seconds it will close everything up.

Thus, maybe you just need to slow down the rate of the auto wipers using that setting???
Just curious. If I have the automatic (and I use that word loosely) rain-sensing wipers but no OBC option to set or button to push, can a mere upgrade to the software for the OBC add this feature??

I'll bet it will. But why are you unhappy with the feature? Mine works great, whether triggered by the button, or by lifting the stalk.

The way I look at it, I paid for automatic rain sensor wipers but if I have to turn on the rain sensor each time I start the car, just how automatic is that. I could have saved the money and still have the same functionality.

Not really--you wouldn't have the--automatic--adjustments to account for changing rain conditions.

Even our 5-series BMW requires a tip of the stalk to start things, but it's fully automatic from then on.

Actually you do in some sense. When you stop at a traffic light, your wipers slow down to a lower speed, and pick back up when you start to move. When you put the car in reverse, the rear wipers come on.

Your brain is automatic, so it doesn't take a whole lot of thought to hit the stalk when you see raindrops on your windshield.

It would be nice, however, if the car could remember things like leaving the 'sport' button engaged when you turn on the ignition, or having the fog lights remain on when you restart the car (or being able to turn them on without having to switch to low beams first, even if they won't be on with the high beams).

Not the same at all. Take for example driving in light rain or a mist, and you pass an 18 wheeler which is spraying all over. You get the very slow to moderate speed you had before the truck, suddenly speeding up automatically to clear the spray the truck spews.

Works for me, anyway, in both our cars, and I would choose it again. I drove hundreds of miles in various levels of rain last week, and the auto wipers worked perfectly.

I think I'd rather have the 200 bucks in my pocket.

Now if they had an option that shot quarters into a toll booth without lowering the windows....

Very much agreed. I only use the sport button when I need instant acceleration (you sacrifice a significant amount of mileage on the MCSa by leaving it on all the time). But I'm one of those OCD people who drive with both my front and rear fogs on any time I have the headlights on, so if that could be done automatically it'd be awesome. No matter, two simple flips of a toggle isn't anything I'm going to complain about.

Look who's talking. You got a ton of options... What's $200? Look at my sig. My bonnet strips were the only option.
