The oil change is easier than the older models. Just remove the screw holding the coolant overflow, lift it up and toward the left, hold it in place with a bungee and you have total access to the filter housing. The housing is composite and has very large threads to make it easier to put it back in. I have changed the oil on older models and the R56 and the R56 is MUCH easier.

Just make sure you remove the correct drain plug or you will be replacing your tranny fluid too. The oil plug is a Torx head that faces straight down. The oil starts draining out as soon as you loosen it.

I will be doing track days and AutoX so I will be putting Castrol Syntec 5w30 in my car with a new filter every 5000 miles.

...that there were extremely functional cargo tie-downs in the boot
...that the optional reading light would be so lame (gets in the way of the shifter)
...that the empty spot below the center stack is the perfect size for CDs

You can program how long the headlights stay on after you turn off the car.
And I've had Buzzby two weeks and just discovered the top storage compartment.

Don't need to arrest you - just a ticket.

If you turn up the HVAC fan to full and set the vents to be the round dash only ones, when you close 3 the last one will close by itself due to the high flow of air. At least it does on mine with the standard HVAC and the recirculate button on. Maybe good for aggravating your passenger?

Cooling in general is better than I was expecting. Friday was very hot and the car cooled down fast. The white roof must help.

I think someone asked that before. I don't know, reeally, but they are very handy for holding my 4 socket lighter plug extender in place. Because they are tethered and, therefore, under stress, my guess is that they are there to prevent rattles. Or maybe its to go with the slits in the door pocket thing.

I am wondering about that too. Maybe to support an optional shelf not yet available?

On a similiar note I added the rubber tray that goes below them and am happy with it's fit and functionality (is that a word? haha). It gives steeper sides to the existing tray and a "stickier" surface so things stay in there ie glasses. It's cheap too at $9.25CAN.

I did not know the MINI CD holder would fit perfectly in the hidden compartment. (sorry to bring up a potentially painful issue for some)

I also did not know how absolutely brilliant the audio readout is for toggling between OBC info and other displays. What a great idea and what a great place to put additional info. Now that I've had some time to play w/ it, I am a big fan of the feature and the speedo/audio combo is making great sense!!! (<----me when motoring)

It'll go off after quite a while - and come back on when you unlock the door.

I get annoyed when people jump into my car and start pushing buttons and turning ***** like they have any business doing so. However, this weekend, that's exactly how someone discovered that the radio can be turned on without the key fob in the ignition (I don't have the Convenience Package). You don't even have to hit the Start button, just push the volume/power button and the radio fires up... along with some other lights and stuff. The radio times out after a little while and everything shuts down so it won't kill the battery, but that's still a little strange to me. Anyone else experience this? is it a glitch?

No, not a glitch. It's a feature. This only works for 15 minutes (as manual says) after the key is removed, and it only stays on for 15 minutes. This lets you wind up windows.... after key has been removed....

The front seats move forward when you fold the back forward (to let a passenger in back) like most cars. You can push the seat back to its original position as long as the seatback is still folded. If you straigten it up first the seat stays put.
If you turn off the domelight (hold switch for 3 seconds) it won't come on again until you hit the toggle switch again.
