If you get out of the car and leave the door(s) open to hear the stereo you can turn off the domelight by holding the switch for 3-4 seconds. (and I like that there's no stupid warning noise when the doors are open and the key is on).

And if you have comfort access, you can turn off the stereo and other accessories by pressing the black button to lock the car, rather than pressing the start/stop button a second time.
We seem to have different software. I have the HIFI upgrade and NAV. When I select "Entertainment" I get this:
Robin - I did not realize that the HiFi radio had a different interface. Sounds like it does - or do you have NAV which would have a different display as well.

So the AUX menu choice, as well as the music note button lands you back at the CD? Does the same happen in all cases if there is no CD in the drive?

It appears the NAV radio setup is differenct. On my NAV-equipped R56, there is one button listed as "FM/AM" that can be pressed to bring up the radio if the CD player or the Aux. is being used. Or, if you are listening to the radio, that allows you to go back and forth between the two.
It sounds like you don't have that on your system. There is also a second button with what looks like a radio face icon along with a CD disc. Pressing that button cycles through the various audio inputs, radio, CD, aux.
Is that correct that you system doesn't have either of those buttons? If not, then I guess us sat-nav people aren't any help for you.

I found a setting under the date and time where you can set an tone to go off on the top of the hour. Unfortunately I discovered this at 6:10, so I didn't get to hear it.
I had my first panic today when I was going about 10 miles and hour and suddenly the mini "dinged" at me. Plenty of gas and suddenly my MA's voice came flooding back to me.
"If the Mini dings at you, check your center tachometer and see what the Mini is trying to tell you. If there's a problem you will see a series of icons here or here."
I start looking everywhere thinking something is wrong my baby girl. Then I realize it was the hourly tone.

As I said, HIFI and NAV. I thought the screen I posted would be a dead give-away.
hit 'audio' and move the highlighted box to 'cd', 'aux,' or 'radio' whichever you want and push the selector **** in...
Deb- Forget the selector ****. Just press the audio button and then press the numbered button under radio or receiver, or whatever it says. It is the first button on the left of the numbered buttons. That is the easiest way to change between Radio, CD, and AUX.
I never had a flat tire monitor so I wasn't sure what to expect from the one on the MINI. The warning light came on this morning. I pulled over and got out to inspect the tires and couldn't immediately see any problems. I began to think it was on the frits. Just then, a hear a slight hissing sound. Sure enough, a nail in the driver side rear tire. My guess, I had just picked it up judging on the wear, or lack there of, on the nail head. Very cool stuff. Very impressed. I could have driven until I was notified the old fashion way (bumpity-bump) that I had a flat and faced a potentially much more hazardous situation.
Oh, by the way, using the spare and jack, very easy. One, two, three. What a great car, even when the motoring, well, isn't the happiest.

Sorry to hear about the flat. But glad the monitoring system worked.
I spoke to a woman here the other day who said she had a flat a few months ago and after the warning system went off, she got out and had to circle the car twice before she could tell which tire it was. It caught the flat before it was very noticable.

Hey John! Thanks. I'd say it was a bummer, but I had so much fun changing the tire. I know that sounds crazy, but I've changed many flat tires in my day (an unfortunate victim of Murphy's Law) and the MINI proved to be one of the easiest. Maybe it was my expectation it would be a pain considering the spare tire is underneath the car, but even that was easy getting out. The monitoring system gets two big thumbs up!
So, it doesn't tell you which tire is flat? I would think it could. It has the information on which is spinning at the wrong speed.
You know it might, I'm not sure. I was just so mad I had one to begin with (it was my third flat this weekend, two other ones on my bicycle) I didn't consult the manuel to see if the computer could do that. All I got was an alarm and a warning signal of a flat on the OBC. With that I got out to inspect.
...i didn't get any other indications as to which tire, but perhaps going into the menu could have yielded that info. I haven't reset the computer yet, I'll dig around on my OBC and if I see anything I'll report back.

Ha, ha, ha. When I was in high school, I was known as the blowout king because I couldn't afford to replace my tires until I absolutely had to. So I know what you mean. But I'll be glad to take your word for it.
But the runflat was supposed to keep you from having to get in the back and pull the jack out.
I didn't know -- until reading the manual just now -- that one has to initialize the Flat Tire Monitor every time you change pressure in the tires, or change tires.
You can push the start button and then push in the clutch to start the car. That's my experience with convenient access. I'm not sure if that will work if you have to put the key in the slot first.
