Is this just a glitch in the system?

I checked both base and S.
I noticed the base has the new red and blue showing....

 

You're right..

Temporary glitch, I'm sure. Especially after both Dave and Gabe gave glowing reviews of the sparkling silver at the press launch (with that redwood lounge leather interior).

 

But it is available on the conv as a part of the Sidewalk Package!!!!!!

 

Yes Folks I am freaking out. To look at the situation on a positive note, I guess I will save $450 in changing to PW.

 

Sparkling Silver IS available. Why would you change to PW?

 

Has Mini done this in the past?
I remember the Checkmate Package for the 06 was available on the configurator and then it wasn't. I do not recall any warnings or bulletins giving people who were sitting on an order a chance to get an order in.

I am tending to lean towards the fact that it is available and accidently not showing up on the configurator, but it is still a little scary to think that they pulled the color from the non-Sidewalk mini's perhapsto make the Sidewalk that much more appealing....

 

This morning I was configuring an Oxygen Blue (which is there today) Cooper but the color won't come back when I save a configuration. I'd go with the glitch theory for now.

 

Per a quick e-mail exchange I just had with someone I know at MINIUSA: Sparkling Silver should not have been removed from the configurator.

So, let's chalk this up to a programming error that should sort itself out.

 

I've also noticed that while you used to be able to build a silver car with white roof and stripes, that option is no longer available. (And I'm considerably less confident that that one will ever be back...)

 

....which is ridiculous, because that's quite a striking color combo, IMO. Black roofs aren't for everyone (namely, me), so no matter what color I get (with the exception of PW), a white roof had BETTER be an option!

I did notice the date on the audio package changed to 06/07

I guess that's why my re-order couldn't have it.

which silver are you talking about? Pure silver has never been offered with white top.

sparkling silver should be available with white top as should dark silver.

 

It was in the R56 configurator

 

The image I attached to my post, of a pure silver/white MCS, was generated by the miniusa.com configurator just a couple of days ago.

I find it surprising and disappointing to hear that, despite offering it on the configurator, they've never produced an actual vehicle from the factory with that combination, if that's indeed the case.

 

Must have been an error. It is shown as not available in the brochure.

 

Just FYI, sparkling silver is back on the configurator.

 

I was also interested in the Pure Silver with White. Two weeks ago when I placed my order and it was entered into the computer, my MA told me it wasn't an available combination in the computer (even though we were able to configure it that way). I emailed MINI (just to be sure) and they confirmed it wasn't an option.

I guess they've now updated the website.

Hi, I just drove a SS/ W MC demo today, nice color combo. What a kick A$$ little car , acceleration , brakeing and cornering are impressive, engine is very responsive , even has a nice GROWL to it. Both the cloth or the leatherette seats are top notch, anybody who ordered them will not be dissapointed . Very pleased with the overall quality. I liked the interior including the dash. Loved the moonroof. I will be putting my order in Monday as soon as I can finalise on my color.

 

I'm really interested in SS so I email MINIUSA and they said that you have to have any pop-up blockers turned off to be able to select SS with the MCS. I tried it and it worked.
