MiketheMini on the Mini2 site says they are still HK, they are just not labeled as HK.

I believe there are 10 speakers in the HI-Fi package also. We've been debating about that package. WE really want the Sirus radio, but's it's a little spendy. We figured you'd have to have the car for eight years before the satelite radio pays off.

That's cool. I have an XM subscription that I am keeping so I did not want the Sirrus. I did order the speaker package and looking forward to listening to them. HK is a good brand from what I know so I am a bit surprised MINI is not labeling them as such.

I'm hoping that those of us with an existing XM subscription and hardware will be able to integrate it into the R56.

XM Direct

There was the capabillity to integrate XM direct into the 06 and earier models. The assumption is that it will eventually be for the R56 as well. If you want it integrated into the unit, you won't be able to have 6 cd changer or i pod adapter as only one port is available for either the cd changer, ipod or satelllite radio. With the XM direct you will be able to view stations/songs in the radio display. It will wait for the after market to actually come up with the unit for interface to the 07 R56 radio. You can always use the XM that plays through the FM band, but I'd prefer direct integration. Also don't worry about losing I pod connection capability as you can always use the aux connector which doesn't take the integration port away. Do a google search on xm direct for mini cooper and you'll see.

I configured my R56 (expecting mid-march delivery) with the HI-FI sound system because the basic stereo in the R53 was just no fun.

When the iPod integrator is available, I plan on getting it installed. I've been told by my MA that the iPod integrator is a dealer install, just not available yet. Does anyone know for sure if the iPod integrator (when available) will be compatible with the R56's HI-FI Sound System being built right now?

Also, does anyone know why there is a delay in this option when it has been available for the R53 for a while now?

You can still get one for the R53.

The reason the new one is delayed is that they are specifically manufacturing it to be compatible for the new head unit... so yes, it will be compatible with the new stereo.

The ipod adapter is listed as available for the 07 to order with a hefty price on my dealer's website under accsesories, check with your dealer or their site. It does not indicate that it is on hold or anything.

According to my Mini Manager and Mini Advisor who just got back from the R56 Training in Arizona the entire Hi Fi system is Alpine. Radio ( which was alpine with the HK in previous models) speakers, and Amp. I'm not sure why they didn't go with HK again but their All Alpine now. I'm not sure if anyone else can confirm this but it was confirmed by a rep from Mini Usa who was at the training.
