How can I upgrade these lights?

I have tried a couple LED bulbs with no luck. I am trying to replace my fog lights and the DRL bulbs above them with LED. Does anyone know of what brand will work without error? I am also having trouble with the license plate bulbs as well. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I don't think there are any LED that will work without turning off the light check with something like BimmerCode.

Read the headlight thread right next to this one.

@dolvio ,

The only way to fix these issues on bulb errors when running LED's is to have your CAS(footwell module) to be reprogrammed by an import garage or dealership. They have these devices that re-writes these codes.

Because all of these LED's have a different resistances than halogens, the onboard computer will always think that the bulb is out not to mention some LED's won't even turn on.

You will need ones like our Ziza ones which are tested and canbus when needed. On the R56 most will need canbus decoders. We test fit ours and make sure they work. Most of those other amazon and ebay bulbs are the wild west on fitment.

Will these work plug and play for license plate and the lights right above the fog lights?

I have those in both my MINIs, remember on start up they all do the bulb check and then stop flickering after a couple blinks.

Thats my old R56 MCS in pics.

yea! That’s what I want.

1) during the bulb check am I getting warning lights on the dash? Or is the bulb flickering?

2) in your first pic, is it just one bulb above the fog lights?

1. You will not get a bulb out error, that is caused by a non canbus bulb or the wrong bulb and no contact (ebay.. amazon... job bulbs). Those ebay/amazon bulbs will also sometimes flicker on past start up. This is caused by a bulb in LED that cannot stay on, most likely a circuit issue. With our Ziza bulbs "no bulb out error" but will get the check bulb test that is 4-5 pulses at start up then you are GTG. That pulse at start up is normal when you go from non led (halogen) to led. Once it does it, it will not do it again while driving. Just on start up the each time you start the car. Its the LKM aka Light Control Module checking the system, when you have a filament bulb (normal halogen bulb) in there it does it but you cannot see it. Hope that helps

2. Yes aka the "front position light" , these are the same bulbs on fog light cars and non fog light cars from the factory.
