My car, with n18 motor, is experiencing cold start idling issue.
When engine is cold, rpm bounces up and down for couple of minutes and smooth out afterwards.
While search for the fix, I noticed the PCV cover is not seated fully.
Wondering... should the cover closed fully? or should there be a gap?
Thank you.
Yesterday, while driving, CEL P0171 was triggered.
Open the hood, found that the PCV cap was gone. I guess because it wasn't fully seated, it popped out and flew away..
Glad you found the problem, sorry it was the more expensive of the two.
I just replaced my PCV. I am hoping it lessens my oil consumption. No leaks and about a quart per 1000 miles. It only has 63000 on it. I know I have read that Mini's use oil and I have had turbo vehicles in the past but that seems a bit excessive to me.
Awesome.
I was too loosing engine oil without obvious leaks. I was thinking it's either PCV or valve stem seal.
Since my PCV is fixed, I'll monitor oil level. Thanks!
Mine is still burning but not as bad as before.
I think the next up is the valve stem seal, which I should do together with timing chain.
Or...
just sell it..? :D
Fueled up today and checked the oil. 1st time adding since changing the PCV, 1/2 qt at 2700 miles. that beats the heck out of 1 qt per 1000-1500 miles.
