Cooper S R56 drives me crazy

Valve cover full of oil, even on the PVC Hose. The Cover is 4 Months old and got a new gasket.

Turbo loses oil on the Screws

Coolant Water with oil

Part of the turbo covered in oil

Hello everyone. I have so many Problems with my Cooper S R56. I bought the car 2 years ago and let the engine build new.

New Cylinderhead with a new Timing Chain Kit. Headgasket was new like many other gaskets. The revise was before 14k KM.

The idle and Engine runs well, without any problems. Even now it runs smooth. But since 2000 Km i have again Oil in my Coolant. Did some of you think that the Headgasket is defect again? Or what can it be, maybe the Oil cooler?

And the engine has not the same Power like the first time it was built. It feels like, there is to much high pressure in it. That would maybe declare, why the Headgasket is (maybe?) again broken. And why it pushes oil out of the Turbo gasket.

The car also lose many oil on the Valvecover. But the sealing is ok. It lose the oil only on the two hoses.

Can damaged piston rings cause to much pressure in the engine? I need to refill like 500 ml of oil every 300 m. But the car doesn't smoke blue or white. The car has no error codes.

I visited like 10 service shops and everyone said: everything on this car is ok. But it cant be ok with loss of power, extreme oil Consumption, having Oil in the coolant but no coolant in the oil.

Hey there,

I'm assuming you have the hose that goes on the PCV pipe sticking out of the right side of the valve cover....

Mine used to look like that until I put some gasket sealer around the PCV hose (used it like caulk) where it connects to that pipe. Now its spotless!!

Have you replaced the turbo oil line? and drain line? No more leaks after that job.

Thanks,

Rick

Thanks. The Drain Line wasnt changed. But the Turbo Oil Line and the gasket of the Oilhousing was changed.

I changed the Coolant and again it is filled with Oil. But the car doesnt smoke or smell like burning water or Oil. Can it really be the Piston rings? What are the symptoms?

Is it hard to change the Headgasket on my own in my Garage? What about the Piston rings. Can i buy new ones and let the Pistons got repaired from someone in my garage or is that hard?

If you need to ask, I’m afraid it’ll most definitely be too hard to do the job on your own. Its also unlikely that the head gaskets alone are bad.

My Plan was to build everything out. Until the engine block is free. Then i would look for someone to change my Piston rings. Otherwise i wont let the car repair. I cant put again like over 3000 bucks in that non-quality **** can

I wanted to give a Feedback. I started to rebuild the engine. Now i am at the Point, where i need to lift the engine to Take the head Off.

But what i already saw is, that cylinder 3 is filled with oil. So i guess, one of the Rings is broken.

That will be a nice rebuild, but im not sure, If i will Change the Main bearings and all the valves.

The only Symptoms i noticed, was the oil leaking on the PVC hose on the valve Cover. And Injector number 3 is leaking since 6 months.

Needed to fix my E46 before i could start the Cooper S
