Trying to buy my first r56 and would like to hear ppls feedbacks these are the cars I’m currently looking at and the mileage thanks in advance to everyone since i know ppl have a few bad and a few hood to say about the n14 motors i been doing my research but would like to hear which car you guys with experience would go with and why 2013 Mini Cooper s with 71,000 miles 2013 Mini Cooper s with with 94,900 miles 2013 Mini Cooper s 119,000 miles 2012 mini John coopers works with 97,000 miles
So all of those have the N18 motor with the exception of the JCW. I had a hell of a time getting the 2013 JCW as that was the only one that had the N18 motor unfortunately. People selling them know that too. I love that orange one...but only because of the color haha. I believe there is a sticky thread about what to look for when looking at the cars and there is a youtube video by ModMini about what to look for as well. This guy is a great resource for DIY videos!
The JCW would be the way I would go, I’m rocking an n14 already so I know what to expect. But I would not buy any of them without going and looking them over and test driving them. I would also bring my WiFi obd2 and dash command the cars as well and check them out for any codes. Maintenance history would be nice, but there have been a few bad stories of “good” history and bad engines down the road. On the jcw, new timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, etc could be in the nearest of futures unless the PO maintained it. CarFax can help as well, the carfax history of my mine is why I picked it up after test drive. The previous 2 owners took it to a mini dealership for all maintenance except for tires, which that even was in there.
JCW and if not choose the lower miles n18 if you can get them. I have an n14 JCW and its doing fine. Most of the time people just dont do the upgrades and replace parts until they sell them with problems and out of warranty. Check that second one out on the vin
