Not know how you reached that conclusion, this would be the first time I hear about such failure. ....You don't need to buy a new one. Get a used one with same part number. you can use Winfkp and NCS expert to program and code it.

You got a windup clock on your car? I got a 19th century regulator clock over the fireplace that had a broken spring and the clock shop charged me around $50, most of that for labor.

LMAO! I too have an old winder above the mantle, that’s easier to work on. Thanks

Im guessing the owner prior to me did drive that often hence the 2013 Mini Cooper Base R56 w/34k miles. I started doing a lot of maintenance that should have been done and I’m lucky to have a solid, honest dealership work on Pepper! Mini of Ramsey in NJ are stand-up guys that are super fair and super straightforward. Really happy with them so far!

You have not said how the conclusion of a broken clock spring was reached....what exactly were the symptoms?

Makes us question your shining recommendation for Ramsey lol

Sorry Adam, so I was driving on the highway and the DSC and Brake Warning Lights went on for no reason. As I was proceeding on my commute, I also noticed the turn signals would not shut off which clearly would indicate a clock spring issue. Btw, you can take my kind words about Mini of Ramsey as you wish. I can only say kind things about them because my experience with sales and service have been top notch and very straightforward, something very rare to find in the Tri-State Area.

Much appreciate filling in the symptoms ect.

Sometimes just an air bag light or the like may come on and sometimes that can be mistaken for a clock spring. If anything it will greatly help someone who searches this topic in the future.

Strange for it to die so young!

Yes, no worries. My bad for not elaborating more on why it happened. I’m going to base my issue and other issues I have with the car that clearly was always parked outside and never really driven much. Luckily I have done the following maintenance.....

Oil/Oil Filter Change
Air Filter Change
Cabin Filter Change
Spark Plug Change
Belt Change
Rear Brakes Replaced
Four Wheel Alignment
New Tires/Wheels

Hopefully this will be the last part for a while.
Thanks Again! Enjoy
