Im running lines for my OCC. Using the original fittings I attached 5/8" heater hose. The bottom fitting is a 90° angle and would make it a lot easier if I could delete the noise maker. Is there a purpose for this so called Noise Maker or can it be deleted? If it can be deleted what can I use to plug up the hole at the throttle body?
Go to youtube and watch a video of it being done by "the bimmer dude". He's got a good way of doing it without needing to plug up the throttle body. I've done it the same and no problems.
The purpose of the noise maker is... making noise.
As I recall, Way Motor Works and NM Engineering have a noisemaker delete pipe that eliminates the connection. There's plenty of posts about various DIY solutions as well.
You better replace the heater hose with proper pcv hose. It will swell up, leak allover the place and make a nice big mess, not to mention possibly throwing
a cel due to unmetered air if you have the other end going into your air intake.
You can use fuel rated hose and be fine. Heater hose is ok short term but thats it. The can can't catch all the oil vapor so eventually rubber will start to deteriorate and can chunk off going into the turbo. The side going to the can will usually fail first though resulting in rough idle from unmetered air and can cause a lean condition in boost.
I just unplugged my noisemaker from the firewall, to test, and I liked it better, as the car is quieter. So next step to make it permanent would be to add a plug on the resonator side, so there is no risk of high pressure blowing my hoses, then I will reattach to the firewall.
There is no boost or vacuum on the resonator side, just engine roar, so in the mean time Im driving, with my noisemaker disconnected, just hanging, like that......., no Codes, no issues, less noise.
