suspension bushings

I need help sorting what I need to buy for suspension bushings. I am hearing "clunk" sounds on my rear suspension. I think it is the sway arm or control arm bushings. A lot of you guys have replaced the OE bushings with PowerFlex and since I think mine are shot I rather replace all the bushings I can with Power Flex (both front and rear). Can anyone point me to the right part numbers of the PowerFlex bushings I need? I only want the Street version. I called a independent shop and they said there is no available PowerFlex front bushing available for my car as it does not have a sport suspension (really odd) so I want to get input from guys in here who has done it.

Thanks!

I did the same thing for my car and I suggest you get this stuff from WMW as its a bit cheaper. I got this first from https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...7-r58-r59.html

But to have the whole Powerflex Bushing set up you would need to get the "Handling Pack" and the Rear Control Arm Bushing Pack and got this second from http://powerflexusa.com/bmwminigener...-pfr5-109.aspx

Despite all the different bushing set ups its cheaper to get the two packs rather than buy individually because you also get the engine mount bushing and all the trailing arm bushing and 2 rear shock mount bushings.

Only thing these two packs DO NOT include is the bushings for sway bars, but a good set of sway will already come with bushings.

Yes you can for sure use the front powerflex control arm bushings on that car as that is the only ones we install in our shop.
https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...shing-kit.html

We also offer the handling pack that has the rear bushings too
https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...7-r58-r59.html

You don't need rear control arm bushings in the rear suspension as they are very expensive and I've not seen one worn out yet, and would be very hard to replace.

oh man this is good news!

I haven't installed my stuff yet and (still in the box) and return them back to powerflex unopened so I can get my money back.
Way, can you think of anything I'd be missing to complete my suspension refresh from what I have so far:

27mm Front & 22mm Rear Sway bars w/22mm rear bushing mounts
Front Strut Bar
Everything in the Powerflex Bushing Kit (from WMW)
TSW chassis brace
Bilstein B12 Kit w/Eibach Springs

Many times we encounter clunks in the rear end it usually comes down to one of three things: In order of prominence.

1. Sway bar end links
2. Sway bar bushings
3. Shock top bushings

Powerflex does offer 3 different sizes for the rear sway bar bushings, so no matter of if you've got a Cooper or a JCW they have an option.

16mm for the Cooper
17mm for the S
18mm for the JCW

Is it okay to have a 22mm aftermarket rear sway bar with the original front bar? If my rear sway bar links are the culprit should I stick with the original mini links then replace the rear sway bars to a beefier one? I wont autocross but I want to get rid of the understeer of the mini.

I think the best question is since I would need suspension work what will you recommend me doing? This is my daily driver and wont track the car.

A stiffer rear sway bar will go a long way to eliminate understeer, this is a very popular mod. I have a 22mm RSB and love it.

Question for our vendors - is there a Powerflex swaybar bushing for a 22mm RSB? I see they have a 22.5 for the front but only 16, 17, 18 for the rear.

I chased down those same pesky clunks for a while, and it always seems like it's the last culprit you check that's guilty. I changed the sway bar bushings, end links, shocks, and then while changing the upper shock bushings I found that the locknuts on top of the shocks were not tight enough and I probably didn't need to replace the parts I did.

Powerflex doesn't make a 22mm rear bar bushing as it wouldn't fit the original bracket.

But we do offer our 22mm poly bushings and brackets we use on our WMW 22mm bars.

Because you're not in the USA. Sadly, WMW has been the victim of credit card fraud enough times that Way decided to just not deal with any non-USA customers.

I found the most common cause of a clunk is the anti-roll bar bushes, the cheapest bushings on the car by the way. Start with those, a very easy swap.

Do you need to apply any grease when using the Mini SBB? If I do it myself what grease do I use? Do I need regreasing of this bushing and when do I need to regrease?
