ScanGaugeII in your MINI Cooper

Have any of you installed a ScanGaugeII in your MINI Cooper and can I see a photo of how it looks in the car? I have seen a ScanGauge in a Subaru but that install was not practical with the gauge attached to the D.S visor. I would like to see if this can be installed nicely in a Cooper S
Am I correct in thinking I can set this gauge to read water temp and oil pressure at the same time?

Thanks,
John

Mine is velcroed to the left of the tach with the cable routed behind the tach, wrapped around the steering wheel, and attached to the OBCII connector below.

Mine is in the same spot, but I ran the wire under the knee bolster cover, I think it looks cleaner.

I have mine on my dash, and you can make the color match almost perfect to the gauge lights.

To my knowledge it cannot read oil pressure though...

Sorry its a little blurry...bad picture I took a while back. The actual scan gauge text is very clear.

The same (expensive) bracket that GOTHMDOC has can also mount to the right of the tach. (I have mine installed that way.) With an MCS, you can get coolant temp and boost, just not oil pressure. When I get my oil filter housing to market, easy access to oil pressure will be available. Now, you need a "tap" which is huge pain to install and keep from leaking.

Blank Screen on Scanguage

Like just about any LCD screen my Scanguage is unreadable in certain light conditions. Mine is mounted directly above the tach and just goes blank at various times of the day. Would putting a hood on the top and sides correct this? If so, I can make one myself fairly easy. Thanks in advance!

Yes a hood would fix it.

Really? I've never had any issues in any lighting conditions.

Next time you can't read it put your hand over the top of it replicating a hood. If it fixes the issue, you've got your solution

Thank you to everyone who replied and posted photos. Having a way to read the oil pressure is a high priority and I will install a ScanGaugeII but not until later. I like the location Automan21 has his installed and I think that is the way I will go.
I did buy a oil pressure gauge and a water temp gauge and they should arrive this Saturday. I need to decide on a mounting system to place these low on each side of the tach and I need to order the hardware to mount the sending unit and link to the car. I have seen a few nice mounting systems on the internet but the prices seem very high for what you get. I would rather purchase a ready to install system but money does not grow on trees. I will look at the car this weekend and decide what to do.
Thanks again,
John

Take a look at what Craven has to offer for gauge mounts.

Greetings! My car is currently sailing, but I've had my eye one one of these SGII's for a while. Pardon the n00b question, but is the installation of this as simple connecting it via the cable to the "odb" port or whatever it's called under the steering column? (aka idiot-proof hehe)

Sorry for derailing the thread, thanks a ton!

Scangauge Hood

Made several paper templates of a hood for my Scangauge. A 1" overhang on top and sides is ideal for where mine is mounted. The LCD stays readable no matter what direction the sun's coming from. The real thing will be of thin aluminum, painted flat black and stuck on with 2 sided tape to still have access to the side port. The dimensions are 7.75" X 2.0". Now to find some 2" flat stock.

What kind of oil temps are people seeing during regular driving? Mine showed 235 while cruising down the highway.

I have mine mounted to the right of the tach. on a Craven mount. The mount is great, but the ScanGauge is so dim its really only readable at night. So I'm switching to a Garmin GPS and the Garmin EcoRoute to read the OBDII.
