I'm using the Access port and it will monitor oil temps.

Water temp at 235F and you're cruising means its pretty high. I get those kind of water temps only on a hot day sitting in traffic. My water temps at speed are like 190-200F on any given day/time. Oil temps at 235 are ok however. How did you get oil temp to display?!?

Using the Access Port programmer I can view real time engine data. OIL temp, water temp, IAT, Boost psi etc. all in real time.

Anyone know what I should do if my MAP is saying 13.8 rather then 14.0 or higher so I can get my boost to show up because it won't let me trigger it with my 13.8 MAP....HELP!

Do what I did and contact linear logic. They can assist.

SGII can read engine oil temp (EOT) and even fuel rail pressure (FRP). I've been working with them for about a month now as a beta tester...and now it's works just fine. Still working the oil pressure..it's a tough one to crack. Looking at getting the turbo tubine speed as well...and a few others too. IAT is already there as well as MAP or BST (boost).

Remember that MAP is based on your local atmospheric pressure, mines about 14.2 psi and is displayed as a negative number, you create the boost once you overcome the negative pressure in the intake, hence boost. If you use BST instead of MAP, it compensates for the atmospheric pressure and shows you the absolute pressure in the intake, which is about -4psi, so you boost once this is overcome by increase throttle / increasing the pressure in the intake (boost).

Typical numbers I see...

Water temp 220-225F
Engine oil temp 220-240F
Boost 15.4psi WOT
IAT is typically 5-7F above the outside temp (on your tach)
Volts is 13.8-14.3V
FRP is 700psi at idle 1500 at WOT

....and mines mounted to the left of the tach velcroed on just below the dash lip with the OBD cable hidden in the knee bolster.

Any word when these new codes to read these parameters will be released? On the R53 front I have someone who is also in the processes of assisting Linear Logic in decoding the EOT for the GP too. Thats really the one I want most. So I know when its safe to go WOT.

SoCal MCS - any details on how to get it to read EOT (on a Gen 1?) I'd love that, as my OEM EOT died with the 3 threads that held the drain plug/temp sensor.

SoCAL MCS, any idea when you would be able to tell us the codeing for the oil temp?

I'll see if I can get permission in the next couple of days. But here's a list of what I'm working on.....

Engine Torque %
Turbine Speed
Oil Temp Gearbox
Fuel Rail Pressure (works)
Air to Fuel Ratio (works)
Engine Temp (works)
Engine Oil Temp (works)
Spark Advance Angle

Not sure if these will work on Gen 1 MINIs, but worth a try!

I didn't think the SGII could display engine oil temps. What codes did you use to get that to work?

Keyser is right. The MTH you have listed has an extra digit somewhere. When I went to enter it, I ran out of space for the "4" at the end.

Can you repost with the right MTH string?

I have firmware version 3.17. Is that a possible issue?

Thanks so much,

Any reason the EOT codes shouldn't work on a 2012?

I entered the codes and got a blank. I did check my entries. Will check again.

I have noticed some differences such as MAP only reads atmospheric (14 psi) and above (boost). No vacuum except at low water temperature, but not all of the time. The Scangage people say that is a result of a change where Mini picks up that reading.

I missed Btwyx's post. But it doesn't seem to work on the N18 engine either. I rechecked the code entries...Is there a firmware issue, maybe?

Yes, you must have the latest firmware. You can send the unit back to them and they will do the update....if you ask, they will also load all the new codes as well!

Just because I know you're gonna ask......

You can see the EOT and FRP shown...these are at idle for FRP. The EOT is after I've driven the car for a while and its been sitting for about 2 hours.

Are you sure it MUST be 4.0? I have the next newest (3.17). Just don't want to go to the trouble of sending it back if that is not the problem.

Thanks,
