Mini-Cruze 1.4 Turbo

Stay tuned- 2008 cooper S with Chevy Cruze drivetrain!
In the process of replacing the junk 1.6 turbo engine with a 2012 cruze 1.4 turbo and 6 speed trans.

Interesting..

Curious to see how you integrate all the electronics as well.

It'll be slower, but those EcoTec engines are fairly robust little guys.

There's actually more room under the hood with the cruze engine.

I will be using both engine management systems.

Like a rare euro 1.4 MINI One version but in the Gen2 variation. Good luck on the swap.

Front engine brackets

Plasma cutter is sure nice to have around! These are the engine brackets I made for the front of the engine above the harmonic balancer.

What is the goal with this engine? Just more reliability? I'd like to see someone swap like a Honda B16 and boost it.

Reliability, Parts availability, Parts cost. There's a lot of Chevy cruze's on the road! Engines and tranny's are cheap and available anywhere. Just about any parts store will have replacement parts.

Well flippin' cool! I'll bookmark this. Can't you get a fair bit of reliable power out of that engine with bolt-ons and tuning? Getting anywhere close to stock power would be the cherry on top of an actually reliable engine.

Personally I'd go NA Honda like I've seen before, but this is also awesome.

Latest on mini-cruze

Lots of progress. Made trans mount utilizing a GM turbo 400 trans mount and fabricated bracket. Torque mount is fabricated and welded in. Used an S-10 blazer torsion bar mount. Believe it or not, But the BMW clutch pipe actually snapped into the GM clutch slave! Ball sockets on shift cables snapped onto cruze transmission as well. Mounted the cruze ecm off of drivers side frame rail. I also used new cruze radiator hoses that went right on the cooper radiator. More to come.

Help! bentley or wds diagrams?

Now wiring the mini-cruse, is anyone willing to share the circuit explanation for the power and ground schematic? I have the diagrams, but no circuit number explanation. Thank you! Wiring is the last major hurdle in this project.

Almost there!

Finally got the new ecm flashed and tuned to eliminate VATS. Throttle is actuating and I now have 5volt references. I just have to run a fuel return line and install a fuel pressure regulator and get the drive axles adapted. The biggest pain of the project was the wiring but I worked through it.
