Like a rare euro 1.4 MINI One version but in the Gen2 variation. Good luck on the swap.

Reliability, Parts availability, Parts cost. There's a lot of Chevy cruze's on the road! Engines and tranny's are cheap and available anywhere. Just about any parts store will have replacement parts.

Well flippin' cool! I'll bookmark this. Can't you get a fair bit of reliable power out of that engine with bolt-ons and tuning? Getting anywhere close to stock power would be the cherry on top of an actually reliable engine.
Personally I'd go NA Honda like I've seen before, but this is also awesome.

Latest on mini-cruze
Lots of progress. Made trans mount utilizing a GM turbo 400 trans mount and fabricated bracket. Torque mount is fabricated and welded in. Used an S-10 blazer torsion bar mount. Believe it or not, But the BMW clutch pipe actually snapped into the GM clutch slave! Ball sockets on shift cables snapped onto cruze transmission as well. Mounted the cruze ecm off of drivers side frame rail. I also used new cruze radiator hoses that went right on the cooper radiator. More to come.

Almost there!
Finally got the new ecm flashed and tuned to eliminate VATS. Throttle is actuating and I now have 5volt references. I just have to run a fuel return line and install a fuel pressure regulator and get the drive axles adapted. The biggest pain of the project was the wiring but I worked through it.
