ohhh this is great, did you document the wiring?
those 1.4's dont make much power though, do you have power increase plans?

I'll take reliability and parts availability over power. It's awesome you got the wiring taken care of.

Got the ecm software figured out so it starts and runs now. I've got ten or so trouble codes to work through and fix. Still trying to figure out how to upload a video here. I have all diagrams- GM and Mini. I may try and tune a few more horsepower out of it,
But mainly after the reliability of it all.

Really neat! Does it run off the GM ecm or the mini ecm?

I am piggy-backing off of the Mini pcm for the power and grounds for now.
I'll work out other systems as I go.

The loss of power stock-for-stock between this and the N14 is very, very easily made up with bolt-ons and chip tuning, if it comes to that.

the entire project is a really great idea! What will you do about guages? Or does the mini stuff work with the GM harness?

The Mini-Cruze has now logged a 158 miles. Still working out some minor details such as getting the electric power steering to turn on, cruise control and building the a/c manifold hose to compressor. Has maybe a little less power then the 1.6 did. More to come!

MINI with Chevy engine
It also helps that I'm a parts tech at a GM dealer! Added the finishing touches.

Yes, everything but the engine in these cars is pretty well made.

I think what most people do is upload to YouTube and link to it. In the reply section, there's a YouTube link icon that should do it. Heck if I can figure it out though. May as well just post a link

Sweet
edit: that was originally in all-caps (it deserves it) but the forum auto-corrected it.

Reason: took away all caps!

If you had a cheap source of cruze engines you could probably make a shop that does this as a conversion for 2nd gen mini's
