How is the aisin transmission?

Hi guys, I have a 2008 auto justa. Recently, i have seen a few posting's on the local advertising sites that guys are selling these cars with blown tranys. 2 of them this week. How common is this? Are these aisin tranys likely to failure like the first gen cars? I thought these were supposed to be better. I know those were early cvt's, and from a different manufacturer, but im a little worried.

They're great.

The problem is that they're spec'd with 'lifetime' transmission fluid, and this is a big .

Replace the trans fluid every 30-40k for cheap insurance and improved longevity.

No, usually the 6 speed auto trans is pretty solid, only issues that can appear, but very unusual, is the valve bodies can go bad, or the wiring leaks to the connector and shorts it out. Usually those get replaced together with a new valve body.
Happy motoring!

I got 2013 justa and i'm on my second tranny. now, the car was flooded and i didn't know anything about any issues until 2k miles of driving. one morning it gave up on me. mind you, the car had ONLY 2500 miles. sweet deal lol...i replaced the the tranny with 2010 justa, it worked for a week, then when i replaced the ATF cooler, it took a dump the next day!!! I cannot even find a straight forward procedure to change the ATF!!! I am not thinking about using a tranny from an S model

In my opinion this does not represent the typical reliability of these transmissions.
The first trans, what caused the failure, the flooding?

The second trans I guess was used with no idea of the history and possible abuse.

you are correct. this is not your typical wear and tare. the first had only 2500 original miles. the second had 75k. I might have failed to properly check the ATF and fill them. THAT is my issue. i dont find anything but successful drain/fill stories. but not actual how to!

I got 50k miles on the original 2012 Justa's aisin. Works well.

We are going to sell it sometime in the next 15k mi or 1.5yr. Do you think it is worth the trouble of doing an ATF change when I still have 7months of MINI warranty?

I wouldn't change it.
