Boost PSI

who out there is running more than 20 PSI on their MINI??

I know the factory settings are about 12PSI but I'll like to know who out there is running 20 or more PSI of Boost?

Please share your MAX PSI set to your MINI

Thanks

That's good to know...because there's two options when it comes to Boost gauges on auto meter:

-30 VAC / 20 PSI Boost
-30 VAC / 30 PSI Boost

I believe that the -30/20 is a good option, that"s why I asked the question....

Now as far as the Water Temp?

120/240 or 140/280?

Yea, I'm going to get the mechanical gauge. I got the one that only goes to 15psi because I wanted a full sweep on my gauge. But installing it was a bit of a pain because it came with its own MAP sensor. Wish I had just gone with the -30/20 to begin with. It was cheaper too. But for the record, I never once saw my boost go above 13psi before my upgrades.

I guess I'm between having to buy the "Aeroforce Interceptor" gauges or the mechanical "Autometer Ultra Lite II" ... is a lot of money to be spent in gauges and I want to get the right ones

Autometer mechanical boost gauges are just fine, and cost significantly less than electric gauges.

I've run the Autometer Ultra Lite boost gauge in 3 of my previous vehicles, as well as my current MINI. Never a problem, always reads what I need it to.

Other than the possibility of needing a snubber to keep from getting air hammer readings on the gauge they are a quick and painless install.

There is a couple of different options for quick fit boost taps, but my favorite is the NM Boost Tap (or equivalent). Once tapped it will read manifold pressure +/- all from the same port.

With one of the quick fit ports the hardest part of the whole job is successfully routing the teflon tubing and not kinking it.

You're fine with 120/240 for water temps. If it's pegged at 240 you've got a serious issue. 231 is when the thermostat opens, so if it's climbing past that something's wrong.

And yeah with the boost gauge same concept. Unless you plan on heavy modding you shouldn't be running past 20, really past 18-19. So that decision would depend on your intentions with the car. Mine runs ~18 max, with intake exhaust intercooler and tune.

Awesome.. that really helps... I'll like to see some kind of sweep in my gauges...

I would hate to be concentrating on it to figure out the numbers.
