Marvel Mystery Oil and Check Engine

Tried a little in my gas tank and my check engine lit up immediately the next day. Luckily I had a scanner in the car and it was the O2 sensor, cleared the code and immediately diluted it with more Shell premium gas. It hasn't come back since. My 2010 Base just doesn't like the stuff.

Have you seen a drop in Gas Mileage before the additive ? Just trying to figure out why it would trigger?

Fuel additives are a thing of the past, modern injection doesn't have near the problems that GM fuel systems did back in the 90-2000's.

Unless you drive a Diesel in the winter, save your money.

No, no problems at all. I was just in a good mood this weekend because I had just changed the Mini's rotors and pads to Brembo & Bosch all around and saw this stuff on sale and was like why not?? Turned out to be bad for it, so wanted to warn people here.

Good to know. OTOH, Techron shouldn't cause a problem.

I was thinking of getting some octane booster(93-103) but after reading this might just save my pennies.

I use Lucas octane booster in my 2008 and never had any problems. I use Marvel Mystery oil in my lawnmowers and atv's but I've never added it to the MINI.

Keep in mind that engines do not use octane higher than they are designed for. Boosting octane in engines not capable is a waste of money with no benefit.
