My wife put fuel in our 2007 Cooper S today for the first time. She had troubles getting the fuel cap on properly and now the check engine light is on. I managed to put the fuel cap on properly. But the check engine light is still on. Any ideas?

 

It will go off after the emissions check happens, just keep driving!

Yes she did. I made sure she knew to do that at least.

 

I've had it go out in a few minutes or take a day or more.

You can also get a diagnostic scanner (if you ever plan to diagnose and work on your MINI in the future) to clear the code and turn the light off yourself. Something like the Carly App should do the trick.
