Clunk Noises - Help!

Hello good people! I have been experiencing some odd and unpleasant clunking type noises from my mini and was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest what the problem is.

Over large bumps I recently started hearing and feeling a heavy clunk from under/within the car near the shifter. Ideas?
Also, while turning sharp from a dead stop, occasionally I hear and feel a clunk. Ideas?

Thanks so much!

-Corey

I have the same clunking noise, time to buy some exhaust hangers. There's a brace directly under the shifter and when you hit a bump just right the exhaust pipe clunks on that brace. Take a look at your exhaust hangers, there probably stretched out like mine. Cheapest place to get them is ECS Tuning.

There are lots of reports of clunking over bumps in these cars (I have one and it's still a mystery).

The fact that you can feel it as well leads me to believe it may be something along the lines of a motor mount. Just a thought.

How many miles on your MINI?

Thanks! I'll look into that. Makes sense too, there's an aftermarket 3" exhaust on it too that probably makes for less room and more weight on the hangers. Thank you!

My mini has 49,xxxx miles on it. It's an '09. I'm wondering if some of the bumps I've hit here in LA have caused something to start the clunks. I've hit a few VERY nasty potholes and construction bumps on accident. I'll look into the engine mounts. Thanks!!
