R56 Gong Sound Mod

Hi,

I'm trying to change my Mini "Gong" sound.
The Gong sound on MC 2011+ car is more ... mmm ... comfortable? sweety? modern? than the sound that has my MC 2010.

It seems that the difference is the play speed (is faster in 2011+ models) so, I believe it is not necessary any research about where is the "Gong" sound file since it seems replacing it is not the way to do this.

It will be possible this mod through NCS in example? (RAD, RAD2 module, I believe)

My GONG sounds like this:

I like this GONG sound:

Yea, there was a bunch of changes in the audio and features in 2011+ models. Don't know if you can hack the sound files. NCS people have hacked some sounds file. Maybe they will post up.

Oh! that's great since I didn't know there is a possible way to hack the sound files. I was researching some time ago through NCS but in the RAD/RAD2 module it seems there is nothing configurable related to "gong tone/file".

Thank you for your comment, I hope some "sound files hacker" can help me whit this!

News (useless):

Coding HU_VERBAUT variable under KOMBI module from "radiostufe_3_4" (actual chime sound) to "radiostufe_1" or "radiostufe_2", just was a bad experience. Don't do it.

The sound achieved was really sharp and unpleasant

I hope someone can guide me to the right way to the latest gong sound

i would think the best mod to the gong sound would be to get rid of it entirely, which i'm pretty sure is possible via NCS

Reviewing the internet and the BMW forums, I can not understand why the BMW cars can change the chime sound between "bmw style", "mini style" and "rolls royce style" and it is not possible on ours Mini.

It may be that the option is not in the Kombi module ...

they are the newer F series car, which uses a completely new system compared to our R56. We are the same as the last gen 3er

Yes and you can do the same with a F56 too.
One difference between the pre LCI and LCI Mini models is the HU

I'm sure, that's the way (sound content/configuration there)

A feature found only in the 3rd gen MINIs, I'm afraid and it's really only possible because the headunit is the same in BMWs, MINIs and RRs.

I've set the BMW, BMW i, and Rolls Royce sounds while coding. I have the BMW-i sounds playing in mine currently It's not just the seatbelt chime either, it's all the sounds: check control messages, alerts, even the parking sensor sounds are different. Will probably switch it back to MINI though.

Yes! BMW F Series and Mini F Series shares HU configs and the sounds can be coded as one more parameter.
The problem is how to do it on pre F serie without the code option given by the factory

I'm starting to suspect that it might be something to be configured on the HU chip and not possible via NCS ...
