Hi guys,
I am new at this forum because only few days ago I finally bought a mini cooper S 2008 r56s and, as for the other cars I had, I would like to have the complete service manual just in case something will happen.

I spent hours on internet these days but I could not find a link or other where download it free.

Can you please point something out or share yours

Numerous related topics on this, in this forum. It's not available in any electronic document format. The hardcopy Bentley manual is the official service manual.

That being said, if you have a specific service issue there are a ton of good how-to writeups on this forum.

 

Thank you metro62 but it is very strange that an electronic document does not exist...for all the cars I have had always I found all the documents....

For now I do not have any issue but I would like to have this material also to study the car and its design

The service manuals that BMW/MINI technicians use are electronic and only accessible on BMW's computer that the dealers access. As others mentioned the Bentley manual is the only thing we can buy. If you want part diagrams look at www.realoem.com

 

So explain this,

It's tempting at only $14 but is this proprietary intellectual property? Meaning, is it legal to be selling this information which would most likely be protected by copy right.

It is not legal to sell that. Expect the auction to come down quickly if/when BMW/MINI notices it.

 

This is what I was thinking as well.

 

The Bentley book is really good, but like most service manuals it is not always 100% complete or accurate for your specific car. If something in the book isn't making sense, I will usually resort to this forum 1st, then start searching the internet.

Bentley actually has some videos up on-line. One omission in the book was for the 6 nuts that hold the front bumper in place when you are putting it into the service position. Their video caught that item.

The book ain't cheap, but it will pay for itself. Get one now while they are fresh. The 5th and 6th printings of my old 2002tii manual has terrible clarity on all the photographs.

Benefits of a paper manual:
Doesn't require any specific operating system.
Can still be read when power goes out and batteries are dead.
You can pencil in notes specific to your car.
Can serve other uses when finished- shim for a wobbly chair, kindling for a fire, personal hygine paper in a pinch, etc...

 

I guess the Bentley book is OK if you compare to a Haynes or Chiltons book, but it is *not* comparable to a factory service manual (and for the price it should be! ).

 

Do not say a factory repair manual does not exist. Yes there is a pdf version of the R56 TIS. I have it....it exists....yes illegal to sell. I don't sell it....but I have a copy to learn from. I also have and paid for the Bentley manual. I usually look up my info in both and compare.

I want this forum to be as good as my Acura forum and to do that people should know it exists and I hope that many people can get it....read it...and share here and give back to the coummunity.
