2010 Cooper S Camden Edition: What's Everyone's thoughts?

I'm looking at getting a new cooper. Current: 2003 Cooper S w/159K miles.

I saw a 2010 Cooper S Camden Edition with the same options I have and only 18K miles.

Thinking about taking it for a test drive. Advertised at $16K.

Could be a nice piece, I think that the Camden has a mechanical limited slip, which is nice if you plan on pushing the car a bit.

Just remember to treat it as a used car first (condition, options, maintenance), then look at it as a MINI.

Have fun,
Mike

You might need to think about the reliability of n14

Engine type. You need to do lots of reading before buying!

If you like it, get it.

Maintain it and it will last you.

seriously look into N14 issues, they are ticking time bombs. I am trying to sell a 2010 JCW with 56K

Why not look for a gently used 2k6 R53?

I have a Camden and it has some nice things about it that make it stand out from the crowd which include the black housing bi-xenon headlights and the side door sills that say "Camden" on it. The LSD that came in my MINI was a nice added feature. I could have gone w/o the talking Camden feature though. I never have it on. 18k miles for a '10 is pretty solid though. You'll like it.

The dash pieces and the mirror covers are probably the nicest bits about the Camden Edition. I often get asked whether the black bi-xenons and the mirror caps are oem.

Are we talking about the turbo problems with the N14 engine?

http://sportmotoring.net/mini-cooper...avoidable.html

Sounds like it's just poor maintenance.

Anyway, looks like I missed out and it was sold this weekend.

Nope. Timing chain (tensioner, specifically). There are many many threads on this board about it.
