4lug to 5 lug adapters question

hello guys,

i was looking at these wheels (varrstoen Es6) and i like them but they only come on 5x100 or 5x114.3. i did find some adapters that can convert my 4x100 to 5x100 or 5x114.3.

the adapter specs

4x100 to 5-lug Adapters are available in these bolt patterns:
5x112/5x114.3/5x120/5x120.65/5x130

And the following widths:
18mm/20mm/25mm/30mm/35mm
http://8380labs.myshopify.com/produc...acers-adapters

the wheels come in 17x9 +22 +30 and 18x9.5 +12 +22 +30
http://varrstoen.com/products/es-6/

any suggestions on what to do? i know the adapter will mess with the offset .

pictures with 17x9 or 18x9.5 would help, if there is any.

I wouldn't do it. I did get a set of adapters to convert from 4 to 5 lug and long time ago on a car other than Mini. Those adapters have to do some funky things to make it work, I never felt safe on them and got rid of them. Just my 2 cents, but I would shop for a 4 lug wheel you like..

there isnt that many wheels designs i like on 4x100, 5x114.3 there is a bunch.

adapters wont be a problem because these are hubcentric and are made for mini. i am just having a little headache when it come to the wheel fitment on minis.

Flako,
The factory gives us a negative offset wheel by design - somewhere around 35-40mm.
To run same size wheel in the same space but with 5 bolts, you would need to select a wheel with an offset equal to factory+spacer. So factory 35-40 plus the 18 to 35mm spacer would mean a wheel with ~50 to 70mm negative offset. Extreme negative offsets are cautioned against because they can put additional stress on the wheel bearings and suspension.

Now you can play with the offset a little if you don't mind the wheel sticking further out than stock.

I am totally lost , we have a negative offset instead? How do I go abou that then? Let's say I want 17x9 rpf1. I run the 18mm adapter what offset do I pick from these available +22 +35 +45?

Here is where I went for reference:
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoWheelOffsets.do
We have the bottom most wheel style. You may see offsets listed as a positive value say 45mm, but we really have negative offset wheels. So to keep the tire in the same relative location when stuffing a spacer in there, you would need to increase the negative offset. So if your factory wheel has a "40mm" offset, to keep the tire in the same area, you would need to use a wheel with a 58mm offset. I am not sure what your factory wheel specs are/were to recommend what offset to get with a 17x9 wheel.

edit - so tirerack says 17x7.5 (40 to 45mm offset) is the oem 17 inch wheel size for your R56. You'd have to ask others if a 9 inch wide wheel will work. If you center it up, that wheel will stick out 3/4 inch further on each side. You will probably rub the strut or spring or wheel well liner.

When going up to 18", 7.5inches is still listed at the wheel width. I don't think the 9 or 9.5 inch wheels you are looking at will work. Unless you don't mind them sticking out past the wheel arch an inch or so

Well camber should help a little I know 17x9 with +30 fit on a mini, I was just asking if I get the 45 offset rpf1 and the 18mm that would be 27 , is that the way it works ? That offset would be close to the 30

found this link on the site:

You have 17x7 R98 wheels now.
If 17x9 with a 30 offset fit, after putting a 18mm spacer in there, a 45 offset would put that wheel in roughly the same place.

For example ducks Mini Cooper he is running 17x9 +35 with w 5mm spacer
