I have a question that I hope someone here can help me with. I have a 2011 Cooper S that I purchase about a year ago. I recently changed the oil and while I was under the hood I noticed an empty hose barb on the intake that looked like it needed a hose. I followed what looked like empty hose clips around the air filter cover back behind it to another empty hose barb. My wife just had the car to the local dealer for inspection. When she asked about it, they said some cars don't have a hose there. That sounds a little funny to me that the manufacturer would put equipment there if there is not to be a hose there. I have attached a couple pictures. One picture is the empty hose barb on the intake. The second one is the empty hose barb under the air filter.


Can someone shed some light on this?

I have no idea what the barbs are there for, but they don't serve a purpose on the '11 MCS.

Thanks for the help and the information. You just never what you're getting into with a used car. I was concerned that someone worked on it and didn't know what to do with the left over parts.
