Brake light with vehicle hoist icon

As I pulled into work today I got the light for brakes in yellow and the emblem with mini on lift, I was going to change my brake pads last spring but the parts guy ordered me the wrong pads three times and I got annoyed. Pretty sure the sensor for brake pads hit and now my stubbornness cost me more to replace sensors. My question is does this sound right for the MILs that showed up? 2007 MCS
THANKS

Sounds about right.

The sensors aren't super expensive, though - ~$20 per sensor, and there's one in the front, and one in the rear. I just did a full brake job (pads, rotors, sensors) on my fiancee's 2010 R56 - ended up costing me ~350 in parts total IIRC.

Check RockAuto.com for prices, though, they were the best I found on brake components.

Sweet thanks, I usually use rockauto, I'm gonna check tomorrow with our local bmw dealer since I do wheel repair for them and see what's a better deal. Wasn't on when I drove home tonight." So maybe I can get away without the sensors.

There are ways to 'bypass' the sensors, as well.

I opted to leave the sensors installed on the fiancee's car. She puts a lot of miles on the car, so it's easier to just have the car tell me it needs brakes.

OE pads lasted to 46k, which is more than acceptable.

a worn sensor does not come and go ... it triggers by wearing down the tip of the sensor until a wire breaks

I don't think that's the warning you are seeing . . .

check your brake fluid level

did you page thru ALL the service prompts of the OBC via the dash stalk?

Actually, I had an instance where the worn sensor did come and go - the sensor wire had broken free of the brake line and had started rubbing on the tire.

That being said, you make an excellent point - there's a specific icon for brake pad service, and now that I look at the OP, I'm not seeing mention of it.

Brake pad service icon:

A BMW dealer can't sell MINI parts unless they are a MINI dealer as well. They would have to buy the MINI parts from a MINI dealer and then sell them to you.

This.

I work for a dealership that has a BMW dealer in the network, and they couldn't even get me a clip for my Mini because they aren't a Mini dealer.

Stupid, I know.

Yes I found this out like 10 minutes after I made that post. Ordered from rockauto, should be here Monday. I work in the tire industry and shoot we've been busy! Gonna be a long day putting brakes on after these 12 hour work days..
