R56 Sub 5.5 Sec. 0-60 - Whats it take?
I seen a guy get his MCS that was modded with stock internals and tuned get 5.9 seconds(probably great at shifting). To be realistic, you'll need to spend $$$ to get 5.5 in 0-60.

With my mods and the car being an auto using a VBOX to time it I got 6.5 do not confuse times recorded using VBOX with times recorded using the torque app etc.
Now that is just starting at idle and flooring it I'm pretty sure I read on a JB+ thread that Terry using VBOX on a manual running race gas turbo back exhaust etc and had the JB+ turn up to 100% recorded something like 6.2
I asked how another guy on a different forum achieved his better 0-100 time and he was launching from 2000rpm in his cooper S auto his car also had a JCW turbo.
So god is not going to help but maybe a bigger turbo will.

I think that it is doable. It will take more than bolt ons if you want the engine to last. Here's my list:
Intercooler
Methanol injection kit
Bigger turbo
Forged pistons (add rods and bolts while you're there)
exhaust
tune
Roughly $10k.
Add in another $5k for suspension and wheels/tires to round it out:
coilovers
rear sway bar
control arms
wheels/tires
Now you're at $15k, a chunk of change, but it would make a fun car even funner! For example, I paid $27k for my car brand new, put $15k into it for a total of $42K. I don't think that is to bad. And it is a whole lot of fun doing it.

Something to keep in mind on the mini. Without a higher rev limit you likely won't hit 60 in 2nd gear. Data acquisition has ours limiting out at 59mph. So you'll need a higher redline or larger diameter tires.
If all you really care about is 0-60 times toss a diff in it and some 275 Hoosiers on the front and a downpipe and tune and go to town. Should be able to hit the times you're looking for.

If I may, 0-60 on a car like this is about as useful as big **** on your sister. To answer your question tho, I have clocked between 5.6-5.8 consistantly on my 2010 JCW with the following mods:
Ceramic coated catless D
Alta Intake
Forge inlet and Hotside pipe replacement
Wagner tuning FMIC
GFB DV+
Battle stage 3 tune
I am boosting at 20 PSI and dynoed at 220wHP 234wTQ.
Getting a FWD is tough, but a rolling take off, she is amazing!!! I agree with what was said earlier, to get there a bigger turbo, meth, and forge internals are a requirement for sub 5s in a R56. If you really want to have fun, take it to a track, spend 3-400 on learning how to drive it, and kill crappy C5 drivers all day! There is a video of a stock MCS keeping up with all the vettes and such.
Straight line is lackluster (we are talking about a 1.6L here) but it's light weight, relatively wide stance, and quick spooling/revvy engine make this thing a blast to carve up twisties!

Instead of speculating, I plan on asking a bro in the THMMC that has a drag set up in his R56. I know he definatenly has a bigger turbo and an automatic. The problem he is having now is that the transmission is cutting out his power early. I'll ask for more info if you are interested. I will say he has thrown a significant amount of money at it.

The reason I say sub 5.5 0-60 is cause a had a stage 2+ B5 S4 Audi and it'd do 0-60 in 5sec or under. I know that is awd though and it'd hit 110mph in 3rd and I'm definitely not expecting that out of this car. Truth is that I may never get to a track with it and here in west Texas ( Midland Area ) there is not exactly canyon carving available, not even close.
I don't need those 0-60 numbers but I would like significantly more push into seat feeling. Love the car on the corners we have but my wife don't care for fast corners but likes going fast in a straight line so that's where I'm at.

I hate to tell ya this but you are barking up the wrong tree. Will a DP, FMIC, intake and exhaust, and a tune be noticeable, hell yea it is! That coupled with some sway bars and some suspension work will make this thing feel awesome! Problem is this is a niche vehicle and you are going to pay. I spent over 2k on my mods for just bolt ons!
I will say if straight line power with cheap mods is something you are looking for, you may want to sell your car. 07 with good miles and taken care of will get you somewhere in the 13-17 range and with that buy a base C5. It is a wonderful cruiser that can be modded and worked on very cheaply (neither of which are characteristics of our BMW built Mini). The Mini is a unique car that handles like a dream and has some get up and go, but you really won't get that thrust you are looking for.

I kinda had that feeling already.. It's my wife's college car till we get another vehicle and I don't think we will be selling it soon, we both really like it, I was just curious about the aforementioned things. I'll wait with the speed till our next vehicle I believe =)
Would a dumped exhaust after the stock DP ( by means of electric cutouts, another words pretty much straight pipe, maybe a with straight through resonator ) make any performance difference without a aftermarket DP? Also is there a good preloaded tune available like a plug and play?

You are approaching this all wrong. MINIs are a blast to drive. Justa/S/JCW/GP. I list them in matter of performance, the latter putting out the best numbers stock. I have an S and would not give it up for any reason. I'm right at the doorstep of having a bad *** stage II build. Need a full tune. My goals are to get a Classic MINI, and a un modified GP2 in the near future, Personal preferences, yet all fun cars.
To answer your question, best mods that will gain you instant satisfaction are:

BMS JB+( if you have the N18, this is plug and play fun in a box: hence the name Juice Box plus)
Upgrade your suspension (what separates MINIs from the rest is how much it loves to be In The twisties...)
This will all gain you aggressive sound/performance both power and handling.
Then call it a day and enjoy some motoring. Worse case scenario, leave it stock and enjoy anyways...

A low mile 2007 MCS that cost $30k new will get you 10k if you're lucky, about 7-8k trade-in. Been there done that.
