backfire

so here goes, ran the search function. i found lots of stuff on how to get rid of backfire, but that's pitiful.

I have a 2009 MCS and it doesn't have the pop or burble programmed in.

Want I want to ADD backfire and pop and burble.

I want so much pop and burble people will think something is wrong with my car. I want it to sound like its about to break.

and I want FLAMES to come out the back.

and this mini needs to spit flames and sound broken

how do I do this? I already have a milltek exhaust with NO resonators
and it doesn't pop or burble for $H!T. I'm ready to drop in a TEST PIPE and buy a 2011 ECU

2011 ECU won't work. It's for a different engine (N18).

It will not pop like an N18. If you go full catless you will get some backfires and flames. That means catless DP and no second cat. My car blows flames on shifts and decel but only when I'm hard on it to build up heat. If you have a tune built that still sprays fuel even when coasting and you are full catless you will get some backfires for sure.

What you describe is an anti lag system. If you can afford to replace the turbo and exhaust regularly than go for it. Look up anti lag on the interwebs.

Sent from me being awesome around my MINI!!

See the problem is I want it to sound like Harley but I like myself a wind screen and doors.

Thank you for the more serious replies on the real, the N18 stuff woulnt work (duh!) and I'm glad someone just stuck it to me with "it'll never sound like an N18"

I'm just wondering why the JCW coopers with N14's sounds so bad ***. I want that!

And thanks for being real, I figured a test pipe (no cats) and a custom ECU tune that leaves the injectors on for a split of a second are the only way I'm going to get what I want.

I also had one of my buddies be all "put a fuel injector in the exhaust! You'll get flames!" Hahaha so the flame thrower thing was funny.

Anyhow on the real if I wanted to ditch the flames but REALLY want the pop and burble what would I tell me tuner to do to it?

"Leave the injectors on a little longer between shift?" Or what?
"I want my exhaust to pop and burble" ???
What am I asking for so I don't sound like a dumb butt

I'm pretty sure they would just need to leave the injectors adding a little bit of fuel when you let off. I will get some pop & burble on mine if I let off before 1500 RPM, that's because the injectors don't shut off when you are that close to idle. I use Battle Tuning but I have never asked if they are able to make it pop...

my 79 burbles with the best (but backfire indicates a BIG problem)

SO

find a classic Mini and adjust .. if necessary change to a 1275 with HIF-6, sport intake manifold, K&N cone, LCB to a stainless PlayMini backbox and twin DTM

I'd give you my pops and burbles if I could. I hate having my car sound broken when the sport button is on.

Hi, newbie here. Did a search on backfires. So, is it normal for my MCS to backfire with the sport button pushed? Sounds like it from some of the responses here. Mine basically backfires each time it downshifts when in sport mode. It's an automatic BTW. Thanks.

Some years do, some do not. The "burble and pop" was deliberately added on the turbocharged cars to make the car feel more "sporty" on decel when in sport mode. It was taken out at some point, and may have been added and removed more than once during the R56 model run? Not sure.

I personally don't care for it, as it makes the car sound mis-tuned. And is a waste of fuel.

It was programmed in with the R53 cars, but N14 equipped R56 cars (07-10 turbo models) didn't have it. People complained, so it was added back in to the N18 cars (11-14 turbo models) and carried over to the new F56 cars.
