R56 Spintech
Spintech
I am a huge fan of how spintech mufflers sound and how we'll they are built. Has anyone ever put a spintech muffler on a cooper S? I am really curious as to how it sounds on this car. Granted my last two vehicles I put spintech on both had 6.0L V8's but I still think it would sound pretty good. Anyone?
I don't think you're ever going to get a similar sound from the mini to a V8 :( Also do they even make a muffler for the mini?
Have you looked into the JCW Exhaust? the sound is not anything like a V8 but music to my ears (ps I have the JCW Exhaust on my Cooper S :P )

Oh not to be confused! I am definitely NOT looking for the V8 sound out of the 1.6!! I have just always like the sound of the spintechs on almost all motors I have heard them on. They don't make any direct bolt on muffler for the mini such as a cat-back. But they make one that can be custom fit.
Anybody have any thoughts or any links to a video of a R56 with a spintech muffler? What size is the stock piping? Thinking I'm going to order a single in single out super pro street 6000 spintech and an oval tip instead of doing the dual tips.
Just purchased a single 2.25" in dual 2" out Spintech Pro Street 6000 muffler, and two double wall bevel round tips. Waiting on them to come in to get them put on. Pretty stoked to do something different than everyone else is doing. All I am doing as of right now is replacing the muffler and tips. Contemplating having the shop pull the res and 2nd cat and straight pipe those. All I am looking for is a better sound and look over the nasty pop can stock tips.

They can make ANY muffler configuration just so you guys knows. There metal is very thick. There extremely durable. There's no packing inside the muffler. It's all steel baffles inside. There designed for maximum flow with lowering decibels to a "legal " level. Lmao. My size in and out diameters. Single in single out. Dual in dual out. Dual in single out. You name it, they can do it. I like them. But not sure how it would sound on a 4 cylinder. Since there made the old school high quality way things used to be made in America. You know what that means, yup, there alittle heavier than normal. But they will last forever.
That's what really like about them. I have had them on several different vehicles. I have never not liked the sound. So hopefully it will turn out good on this one also. I will def do a before and after for us guys.
How ya like how well it's built ? Thick gauge steel. Good welds. That suckers built for abuse.
Mine came off my pick up. Drug it for about a mile. STILL IN ONE PIECE !! Put it right back on.
There definitely high flow for sure

Remove the 2nd cat and resonator and it'll improve the sound. Remove the Cat and replace with a catless DP and it'll be even better. Of course you will get more drone with either of those changes.
The only thing removed/replaced was the stock muffler and tips. I was contemplating having them remove the res while it was in but I decided to see how it sounded this way first. Drones some between 3-4k. Would removing just the res make it drone that much more?
