A Chevy guy crossing into Mini

How's it going fellas, the name is Mike but most people call me...Mike. I'm a current student of TX A&M (C/O 2014)

I joined to educate myself more on these cars particularly the Cooper S, I filled my truck up today and where I'm at gas was $3.86 and I spent $74.50 to fill my tank 3/4 of the way

Once I was done crying I began to thinking about some fuel savers for my future, a Jetta TDI was one and a Mine was the other

Here's my vehicle I got when I turned 15, even though y'all may not be versed in Silverado stuff I'll tell y'all anyways

1995 350 TBI, Edelbrock air intake, Flowtech shorty headers, Magnaflow cat, Spintech 6000, TB spacer, ultimate TBI mods, vette servo, Hotchkis 2/4, 2 12" Kicker CVT's, 5000K HID's

Over the summer I'm swapping a 5.3 from a 02 Silverado in here for more power/fuel economy, I'll do a cam swap in the 5.3 when ever funds are more readily available.

Well guys time for me to start reading

I'm a Chevy guy too, and I spent $73.00 yesterday to fill my 04 CTS-V. I absolutely love my MC and you would have no regrets grabbing a Mini of any kind. To have the fuel last 1 1/2 weeks is great, even while thrashing it around.

My tank usually lasts about 8 days...14 MPG city sucks.

If I use my tank all highway I can pull about 18-18.5 MPG

Keep the truck for when you need to haul - Drive the MINI when you want to save gas moneys. Not driving my 2008 Duramax and taking the MINI on a recent 700+ trip saved $60 in fuel. Truck gets 19mpg on a freeway trip not hauling any wieght, MINI gets 33mpg.

welcome, i'm keeping my chevy too, got it when i was 16, and hope to keep it long enough to give to my kid one day.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO not a TB spacer! those things are better as a paper weight.

check out performancetrucks.net for any info you may need on the swap. i have been over there for years, great guys and a ton of info. just don't tell them about the spacer.

also I really really love 98 and back trucks with LS engine swaps the TBI's were hogs. i have a cammed 5.3 in mine, but need to go bigger. if your ditching the 02 altogether and keeping the engine good deal, if not its easy to find low mile LQ9s around here.

I already bought the 5.3 for $500 with 48K miles from a junkyard in Houston.

I'm already on too many truck forums including houstonperformancetrucks.com, ls1truck.com, performancetrucks.net, and lastly fullsizechevy.com...I'm actually the president of the TX chapter on FSC

I plan on going with the TSP 220/220 paired up with a 3000 stall

The TB spacer works on wet injection but not dry injection BTW

all i know is that on the new engines a spacer is no good less your sprayin through it.

i went to small on my cam 212/21, later i want go with the cam you mentioned or a 226/226 of some sort.

im not on FSC, just PT, and ls1truck but i never get on that one. let me know if your planing some truck meets! haven't been to a meet of any kind in years

Yeah the TB spacer on TBI gives the fuel and air more room to atomize but on any truck 96+ they don't do a thing since the fuel is injected directly into the cylinder and the only thing that goes through the TB on them is air.

Hell man we actually started taking meet ideas a couple weeks ago!

Don't have a date set but most have agreed upon meeting in College Station.

I think college station would be a no go for me less it was a huge meet maybe. i think all my friends have graduated from A&M now and i would have no place to stay. HAHAHA since we are on the mini forum i think 100 dollars gas for the trip would be out of my budget as well.

i'm sure you will be sharing my confliction soon, want to do more work on my truck but the next step is the dearly needed gears and locker but man thats an expensive one. and there are several really nice 100-250dollar mods to be done to my mini.

Or, sell the truck and keep some of the proceeds tucked away for renting a vehicle on those (presumably rare) occasions you really need the capacity.

The savings on fuel and insurance (one less car to insure) should work in your favor.
