Changed my oil outside a parts store this morning, and turned out they DID NOT have any compatible oil filters for my '08 r56.
At that point, I'd already drained the oil, so I had to just fill up the tank with new oil and would replace the filter later. Everything went fine, but then I get this icon:


Double checked that I wasn't leaking oil... so what could it be?

Do I need to do a reset, like I do with the air pressure sensor when I put on a new tire?

 

That's the check engine light. Get an ODBII reader and see what the code is. Perhaps you knocked loose a vaccuum hose.

I bought a cheap BT obd2 connector on Amazon (12 bucks) and use the Torque app for android.

 

that autopart store - if they are any good - should be able to read the code for free

Just from being in the progressive rock loop for over 40 years.
I think my original source was either the Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock
or the Laser's Edge catalog, then I got Dies Irae a half dozen years ago or so at a
music shop that carries that kind of stuff.
