R56 Brake System Help!!!!!!
Brake System Help!!!!!!
This is my first time posting but i have stalked this forum on almost a daily basis. This is like my bible. I recently purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper s, which i love but she has been giving me problems. Especially the brake system. First i found out that my abs module was faulty and leaking so that was changed and then i also changed the front rotors and brake pads to EBC yellow stuff as well as their drilled and slotted sport rotors. but the brake system is still wonky. If in a panic stop situation it feels as if the brakes lock, you lose control of the car and even if you take your foot off the brake pedal the brakes are still being applied until the car comes to about a full stop. Any ideas as to what the problem is??????????

ABS is still acting up is my guess . . . who changed it out?
A MINI dealer provides a warranty on service work even when the car is no longer covered ... 12 months as I recall (been a long time since I needed a repair)

Yes, the abs is still not working. I didn't have the module put in by mini. However. I have no warning lights. Doesn't the system check itself every time it starts the car. So if it was still faulty wouldn't I get a cel?
i went to mini to have the module programmed by mini. They're saying that the module can't be programmed because i purchased it used and basically they are programmed specifically for that car and can't be programmed to another...Has anyone heard this before? Also can i just take the ecu part of the module off my my old module and place it onto the new pump?

it may be possible but I'm not surprised a dealer won't touch it.
you need to find an independent mech with the computer system . . .

I originally went to an independent mechanic. This great place here in new York called Motorcepts, unfortunately he said he was unable to even program the module cause the module said it was locked. That's why I went to mini. Mini made no mention about the module being locked they just said that because it was programmed on a previous mini they couldn't program it to my car. Is there any way to get around having to pay the 1300 to buy a new module

Did you install the pads correctly? There are inside and outside pads. I got mine in wrong the first time and my brakes felt like they were applied also.
It does sound like you have a more involved situation, but eliminating a mechanical problem is an easy start.

Typically, once a module is flashed to a VIN, it can't be re-flashed. We have two coding experts here. The one who is here now says 'it can't be done'. I'll ask Ryan d(our other coder) when he gets here later, but you might be out of luck with that module.
