Help with engine noise!

Hi everyone! I got my Mini back from the dealer a couple of days ago. They told me the Mini Cooper dealer they sent the car to found the engine noise to be normal. What do you guys think? Does it sound normal?

Thanks!

Thank you all for your replies! I'll call the dealer and let the service department know. One more question, is it ok to drive it like that? What can be the worse that can happen? Should I be gentle with it or can I drive it normally ( spirited driver)?

Let it warm up before you drive it hard

Oil level is right in the middle between low and max level.

Maybe they think the timing chain problem is so common that it's now considered "normal."

I'm assuming the concern is over the clackity-clack noise.....the crickety chirp-chirp-chirp sound is normal on the R56, no? Well, maybe more like tickety-tick sound, not chirp......

How many miles on your MINI?

Could be a noise from the timing chain being stretched. The clacking sounds more like combination of a noisy friction wheel and water pump wheel/the water pump itself.

Well, I called the dealer today and explained the issue. They told me that I should contact the Mini dealer they had sent the car to for repair. Short story, I bought my mini from herbconnolly Hyundai. Car went back twice for check engine light within the last 5 weeks ( own the car for about 6 weeks now). Turned out being a turbo vacuum line issue. Both times the car was sent to the Boston mini dealer. So I'll setup an appointment and keep you posted.
