Help R56 won't start

I have a 2008 Mini Cooper s that I love, yesterday after getting home the car had been running great. Ran inside for 10 minutes and back out to go to dinner and my car won't start, all the electronics in the car work fine, everything turns on except the engine?? No noise comes from the engine and she won't start with a jump. The engine doesn't even try and turn over. Mini says could be the battery but that doesn't really make sense because everything will tuen in in the car. Any ideas?

When a MINI's go bad they do some crazy things. Pull the battery and take it to an AP store have them check it out. If it is the original battery, I would not be surprised if that was the problem.

I've had cars that won't start with a jump but will start after the battery is replaced or recharged. If you have a battery charger I'd recharge the battery for a couple of hours and then try again. If that works you probably still need an new battery but then you can drive to Autozone and get one.

If the battery has a dead short in one of the cells, it may light up the dash but will definitely not take a jump because the other car's battery or jumper/charger's voltage is just being absorbed by the short in the battery's dead cell.

Probably time to replace it.

I would check the clutch cancel switch on the clutch pedal. It could have fallen off or become misaligned. I've seen it happen on a few r56s. Kinda weird for a battery to go bad right after a drive.

IT's definitely the battery I had the same problem. The car ran fine, I turned it off for a brief moment I went to start it again it wouldn't start. I used a jump box to get it going again. I made anther stop turned the car off thinking I wouldn't have any more trouble, of course it wouldn't start again. I tried to jump it from another car, wouldn't start. I called Mini Roadside, a guy should up with a jump box it started. The battery gave me no signs of going it just quit working. I replaced it no more issues. It was the original Mini battery. I bought the new one from Advance Auto.

Check the switch on the clutch, highly doubt it was the battery. Ive had this same problem before, the little switch on the clutch falls of pretty easily.

Thank you everyone, it turns out to be the clutch pedal sensor!

Mini didn't replace it, only located the problem and plugged it back in, though they did charge me $125. A bit much to plug a cable back in!
