I Vinyl Wrapped My Roof

My 2012 Cooper S Hardtop was ordered from the factory with highclass grey paint, black wheels, and a white top. I decided I wanted a change from the white roof, so I had a local vinyl shop wrap the roof, spoiler, and mirrors with 3M gloss black vinyl.

Looks great. How did the spoiler turn out? My guys had a pretty hard time getting mine done. It looks great now but I had to go back twice for touchups.

I love it. Do you have the sunroof? If so, was it wrapped too? I ask because I have a black roof with sunroof and am considering wrapping just the glass part.

It turned out well. They removed it from the car to wrap it. There are seams but it's not too noticeable.

I was advised to not go through car washes (I hand wash anyways), but they told me some customers do and haven't had problems.

They told me I can expect mine to last 3-4 years before it will start to fade. I park outdoors, so it won't last quite as long (~5 years), but then again I don't live in Arizona or Florida, so the sun is less strong. If you park outdoors there, you can expect 2-3 good years.

Ask your shop how hard those mirrors were to do. Answer: really hard. I know: I've messed up a bunch.

That's a space-age piece of Home Depot plexiglass, cut and wrapped. We put weatherstripping from the Helix intake on the bottom of it.

They told me that once they figured out the mirror caps are removable, it was a lot easier. P.S. that R53 is insane

Beautiful, indeed. I wonder, though, will you get the itch to change it before the three years? I know I would. Too tempting.

I'm glad the mirror caps are replaceable because I tried to wrap my subie's-- and they looked like crap.

I had my sunroof wrapped. Just plain black. It looks great, and looks pretty much factory. Best of all, the sun doesn't blind me mid-day anymore.

I had an '05 that I had the sunroof wrapped to match the white roof. Worked great, It was sort of translucent from inside but kept most of the Floriduh sun out.

What was the average cost of wrapping your roofs? I'm looking to have mine done in CF, no sun/moonroof

I'm assuming 150-300 is what I will pay. How's yours holding up? Anything you would do differently? Any particular material you asked for? How long did it take?

The white roof and mirrors looked fine. Would have gone well with white viper stripes.

As long as you're happy.

where are you guys getting quotes for $150 to wrap the roof. ive gone to 3 different shops and all of them quoted me over $700 to do just the roof. with these prices you are getting I'm thinking they thought I wanted the whole car done.

im in the chicago area, had xtream graphics do it, maybe close to a year, and 15000 miles....been in auto car washes, ( on occasion), snowed on, salt from the road, 90 plus degree days, sitting in parking lot at work, and it looks good as the day i got it...i actually am thinking of having the carbon fiber type vinyl done this summer.
