engine light vanos warning

It started just now and then and I would clear the light.
vanos warning actuator moved.

Now add to that something about idle air mixture (forgot).

I am unable to clear the light (bav tech tool).

Does anybody know what is happening?

Or advice?

2007 Justa.

Thanks.

If you are getting a warning it is because the actuator is going out and that is not a good thing to ignore. Vanos is what controls the timing and can royally screw the engine up when it goes out.

I will get it checked out.

Do you think my timing chain could have stretched?

I talked to the dealer.
They want a light on before I come in.

So I will wait for the light again.

Lame, it should have thrown a code and stored it if an issue of that possible magnitude.

I keep trying to reset the light.
It was intermittant and now it is most of the time.

I think I'll change the oil maybe a good flush.

As mentioned before, there should be a code stored. Go to one of the the large auto parts stores like autozone or advance auto and they can read the code for you for free. At least you will know what it is and can talk to the dealer about it.

And don't try to reset it.
