Replacement of thermostat housing

Thanks to all who responded to my "leaking water"thermostat post.I have it in the shop today and the approxomate charge is $400.00 for replacing the housing.From people who have experienced this problem,does that seem in line?

About $300. less than mine but I had an extended warranty that covered it. Make sure they replace the gasket with the new improved version.

That's pretty good considering I was quoted $900 at the dealer. I bought the part and a gallon of coolant for $150 out the door and did it myself in an afternoon.

I paid about 400 total with parts and labor at a local third party shop that has high hourly rates. So yeah.

Apparently i got screwed. I paid $750 a couple weeks ago at my local Mini Dealer.

Wow! I paid $95 and spent an hour or two of mild labor on this. $750 is way too much!

I have mine in a mini specialist now (not a dealer) and the price is $400.00 also

Made a grave error. Looked at the wrong ticket and obviously didn't read it carefully, the above was for a knock sensor replacement (that's another story). The shop I go to charged $232.82 to remove and replace the thermostat housing, thermostat and a fresh load of antifreeze.
