Thanks to all who responded to my "leaking water"thermostat post.I have it in the shop today and the approxomate charge is $400.00 for replacing the housing. From people who have experienced this problem, does that seem in line?
That's pretty good considering I was quoted $900 at the dealer. I bought the part and a gallon of coolant for $150 out the door and did it myself in an afternoon.
About $300. less than mine but I had an extended warranty that covered it. Make sure they replace the gasket with the new improved version.
Made a grave error. Looked at the wrong ticket and obviously didn't read it carefully, the above was for a knock sensor replacement (that's another story). The shop I go to charged $232.82 to remove and replace the thermostat housing, thermostat and a fresh load of antifreeze.
