automatic adjusting headlights

Is there any way to set the headlights to automatically adjust to lighting? For example, if it is day time, it shuts them off, and if it's night time it turns them on. For now the only setting I found keeps them on all the time and just turns them off when the car is off.

I don't want them on during the day, so it's kind of annoying that I would have to keep switching the lights on and off throughout the day on a 2012...

If there is a setting I missed please let me know, it would be of great help.

Thanks in advance

There is an auto headlight option, not sure if it can be retro-fitted to the car though. It used to be part of the convenience or cold weather package (can't remember which) and it acts exactly as you describe above, based on the light sensor.

Yeah I figured as much. It sucks that the owners manual tells me I have the option when I don't :(

Thanks for the info.

Why don't you like daytime running lights? Studies show you are safer with your lights on in the daytime.

Couple questions:

1) Does your headlight setting have 4 options (On, Parking, Off, Auto)?
2) Do you have daytime running lights turned off in the options?

If you set it to Auto and have DRL turned off, it should work like you want.

It's 4 switch positions on the ****.

If it's any consolation, the auto headlights work imperfectly. They tend to be very aggressive about turning on, sometimes even when it's bright out.

Hah thanks, I know I'm just being picky. I'll get over it.
