I accidentally almost stopped the car while in 3rd gear....

This morning I kind of messed up on my shifting. I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S w/ manual transmission. I had the music on and approaching a red light while in 3rd gear. My mind kind of wandered for a second and I began to stop the car while in 3rd gear. The engine started vibrating briefly and I immediately pressed down the clutch pedal to disengage the clutch.

Could I have messed anything up? The vibrations did not sound like a good thing :(

Your car would have stalled, and bystanders may have laughed at you. But that would be the extent of the damage.

The shuttering is the clutch breaking loose from the pressure plate and flywheel. It wears out the clutch doing that. Cool sound huh

DAMN! I hope I didn't wear it that much. It vibrated for maybe 1 second.

Not as bad as rolling up to stoplight on your bike and forgetting to put your feet down...

Cars will take this sort of minor abuse now and then without problem. If you make it a habit to drive like a numbskull, then it begins to take its toll.
